As a dedicated follower of Indian cinema with years of experience under my belt, I must say it’s always a rollercoaster ride watching the Oscars race unfold. This year, the selection of Kiran Rao-directed Laapataa Ladies as India’s official entry has filled me with immense pride and anticipation.


India is proudly submitting the Kiran Rao-directed film “Laapataa Ladies” as its entry for the Oscars, marking a significant milestone in the Indian film industry. Meanwhile, the director of the competing film “HanuMan” has expressed his feelings on social media following its loss to the Hindi language movie.

The film producer shared a picture showing the list of Indian movies competing for Oscars, accompanied by a hopeful emoji. With Aamir Khan as one of the co-producers, Laapataa Ladies moves forward in the Oscars race. We can’t wait to find out the final results!

Besides Hanuman, other films from the South such as Kalki 2898 AD, Aattam, Kottukkaali, Maharaja, Ullozhukku, Aadujeevitham, Mangalavaaram, Vaazhai, Jama, Thangalaan, and Cannes Grand Prix winner All We Imagine As Light were also among the other strong contenders.
