As a gamer who’s spent countless hours binging Bob’s Burgers, I gotta say, comparing season finales is like pitting a level 5 boss against a level 10 one – it’s just not fair! But alas, I must play the game.

Expressing that Season 14 of “Bob’s Burgers” was more than just surprising would be a significant understatement. The series not only delivered exceptional episodes, but it also fell unexpectedly brief in length.

Unlike past seasons of Bob’s Burgers, season 14 consisted of just 16 episodes instead of the usual amount, a result of Hollywood strikes during production. Yet, we were fortunate to receive some additional Bob’s Burgers episodes, including the series finale titled “To Catch A Beef.

As we near the end of things and eagerly anticipate season 15, let’s travel back in time a bit and revisit the season 13 finale titled “Amelia.” This episode holds a special place as it was later dedicated to Paul Reubens, who graced us with his presence as a guest star.

Although comparing them won’t be a walk in the park, since there can only be one victor, let’s dive right in.

Comparing “To Catch A Beef” with “Amelia” is quite an accomplishment. Not only does “Amelia” serve as a Mother’s Day special and a focused episode on Louise, but it delivers in every aspect. After its initial airing, we provided a recap here, but I’ll give you a quick summary if you missed it or need a refresher. The story revolves around Louise, who is writing a report about Amelia Earhart as her idol. Despite the unknown fate of Amelia Earhart, Louise invests considerable effort and enthusiasm into this project.

Beyond showcasing a fantastic outing for Louise, this episode delves into the bond between Linda and Louise – something we don’t get to see too often. It’s heartening to witness Linda offer support and encouragement to Louise throughout. This touching episode wraps up a season that had its fair share of highs and lows, making it an unmissable finale for any dedicated gamer like myself. During a typical episode of “Bob’s Burgers”, tension usually stays low. But “To Catch A Beef” took things in an entirely different direction, turning out to be quite stressful. We were constantly on edge, wondering if Teddy would expose himself or if Bosco could pull off his plan. However, everything turned out splendidly in the end, and we even received a delightful surprise with Vincent’s unexpected appearance. In terms of season finales, this one certainly ranks among the best.

Which Bob’s Burgers season finale is the winner?

“To Catch A Beef” was such a fun and surprisingly suspenseful episode yet the clear winner between the two is “Amelia.” Season 13’s finale just felt more impactful and gave us a taste of what was come with season 14. “Amelia” truly felt like a sneak peek of some of the more impactful and mature topics the show would tackle. Of course, it was still done in the same typical Bob’s Burgers fashion which is why the show is still as beloved now more than ever.

Regardless of how you feel about these finales, “Amelia” and “To Catch A Beef” are both good in their own right. While it might be unfair to compare them, it’s all in good fun. Plus it gives us something to noodle on ahead of season 15 which is premiering next week after the handful of bonus episodes.
