As a seasoned analyst with years of experience in the blockchain and gaming industries, I find myself intrigued by the Hamster Kombat saga. Having closely followed the rise and fall (and rise again) of numerous projects, I must admit that this one has certainly piqued my interest.
In preparation for the forthcoming release of their native token HMSTR, Hamster Kombat – a well-liked tap-to-earn (T2E) game available on Telegram – has unveiled the outcomes of its inaugural season, which ended on September 20.
Based on information from the developers, by the end of September 2024, the game had amassed more than 300 million active users. Yet, it’s been reported that just approximately 131 million players met the requirements to receive the airdrop.
Airdrop Qualifications and Milestones
At first, Hamster Kombat guaranteed rewards to anyone who participated in the game by accomplishing daily missions and trials. Consequently, this Telegram-centered blockchain initiative, similar to Notcoin (NOT) and its airdrop reward system used in another T2E game, attracted considerable interest from both traditional Web2 and emerging Web3 gaming communities.
Over the past week, I’ve noticed a significant change in our project’s landscape. We’ve introduced an anti-cheating measure to combat malevolent users trying to manipulate the system for their advantage. The team has made it clear that those found cheating will be excluded from receiving airdrop rewards.
After taking a platform snapshot on September 20, Hamster Kombat announced that approximately 2.3 million users were banned for using unauthorized methods, thus excluding them from receiving the airdrop.
New Reward Program and Airdrop Details
Approximately 86.9% of players (131 million) are still eligible for the airdrop, but it was noted that nearly one-third (30.6 million) haven’t selected their preferred withdrawal method as of now. Fortunately, these players can still claim their airdrop even after the deadline has passed.
On September 19th (Friday), Hamster Kombat launched a novel incentive plan for users choosing to receive their airdrops through the Telegram wallet. As per the statement, these users stand a chance to gain returns as high as 300% annually on their assets.
In summary, out of the overall supply of 100 billion HMSTR tokens, 75% (which equals approximately 75 billion tokens) has been set aside for the game’s community. Among these tokens, a significant portion, amounting to 60%, will be earmarked for recognizing skilled players from Season 1. Out of this allocated 60% chunk, around 88.75% is planned to be distributed instantly, whereas the remaining 11.25% will be locked up for ten months prior to distribution.
In addition to setting aside 15% of their token supply for a potential airdrop during Season 2, the creators of Hamster Kombat are hinting at even more thrilling features in the forthcoming season.
After finishing the airdrop on September 26th, the game has arranged for HMSTR to be tradable on well-known cryptocurrency platforms such as Binance, OKX, KuCoin, Bybit, Bitget, and Gate.io.
