'Do you think that such a big director would…’: Jayam Ravi comments on buzz about removing Silambarasan TR from Mani Ratnam’s PS-I

As a dedicated follower of Jayam Ravi’s career, I must say that his recent interview with Hindustan Times was enlightening. His unwavering passion for his craft and respect for the industry is evident in his response to the baseless rumors about his supposed conflict with Silambarasan TR.

Jayam Ravi has faced numerous comments and criticism, stemming from both his personal and professional endeavors. The focus on his personal life intensified following the news of his divorce with Aarti Ravi, while the actor recently addressed rumors linking him to the removal of Silambarasan TR from Ponniyin Selvan-I.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, actor Jayam Ravi set the record straight about previous gossip suggesting a disagreement between him and Silambarasan TR, denying any desire to avoid working together. He also commented on speculation that his issues with STR might have resulted in the latter’s exclusion from Mani Ratnam’s film “Ponniyin Selvan-I”.

In reply, Jayam pointed out that working with a filmmaker like Mani Ratnam was an extremely rare opportunity for him. He also emphasized that it was utterly unfounded to assume that someone as esteemed as Mani Ratnam would cater to the casting requests he might have had regarding a project of such grandeur as PS-I.

As a lifestyler who appreciates the art of cinema, let me share a personal anecdote. For over two decades, I harbored a dream – the chance to collaborate with the esteemed Mani Ratnam. When this long-cherished wish came true in the form of Ponniyin Selvan, I felt nothing short of gratitude and elation. Now, you may wonder if, upon finally securing this opportunity, I would have dared to make any extravagant demands? Or perhaps question whether a director of such stature would heed my suggestions? My answer is a resounding no – I considered it an honor simply to be part of his vision.

After sharing more insights, Jayam Ravi pointed out that contrary to popular belief, he and Silambarasan TR, whom he fondly calls ‘Simbu’, are actually close friends. He even suggested that it would have been a fun experience for both of them if they had the chance to work together on PS-I.

Jayam clarified that they’re real-life friends and addressed the rumor when it started, making things clear between them. He added that working together could have been enjoyable for both of them.

At the moment, there’s quite a buzz surrounding Jayam Ravi as he navigates through his divorce from his wife Aarti after 15 years of marriage. Additionally, rumors are circulating about him possibly being in a relationship with a singer based in Bangalore named Kenishaa Francis.

Despite the speculation, the actor has made it clear during his conversation with DT Next that all rumors about their relationship are unfounded. He shared that he knows Kenishaa as a spiritual healer and expressed interest in partnering with her to establish a spiritual center together.
