Cards Against Humanity sues Elon Musk & SpaceX for $15 million

As a long-time gamer and supporter of Cards Against Humanity, I find it disheartening to see such a beloved company face environmental and legal struggles against SpaceX. Having grown up along the US-Mexico border, I understand the importance of preserving natural beauty and resisting efforts to exploit lands for short-sighted political agendas or corporate greed.

This week, Card Against Humanity, the creators of the popular party game, declared their intention to file a lawsuit against Elon Musk and his company SpaceX. The cause of this legal action? Card Against Humanity claims that SpaceX, in its operations near their land in South Texas, illegally disposed of waste and pollutants onto their property without consent. Furthermore, they allege that SpaceX then attempted to buy the land at a below-market price. Unhappy with this offer, Card Against Humanity is now suing SpaceX for approximately $15 million in compensation for damages.

This week, Cards Against Humanity publicly addressed a lawsuit they filed, detailing their issues as stated in their court filing in Cameron County, Texas. They have taken to their website to express that the land they owned before SpaceX began depositing materials on it, has been altered significantly since then. The company states unequivocally that it will not entertain any offers from Elon Musk or SpaceX, instead choosing to pursue legal action against them for full compensation. This land was initially purchased in 2017 to maintain its pristine natural environment along the US-Mexico border, as a symbolic stand against former President Donald Trump’s contentious border wall plans.

7 years ago, I proudly invested in a piece of land on the US-Mexico border, standing firm against Donald Trump’s divisive wall proposal. However, this year, another ultra-wealthy individual with racist tendencies—@ElonMusk—has damaged that land with heavy machinery and waste, prompting us to file a lawsuit seeking $15 million in compensation.

150,000 investors helped Cards Against Humanity purchase a plot in 2017 with the intention of protecting its natural beauty and preventing any misuse. Unbeknownst to them, SpaceX later developed property located at the rear of the company, unintentionally compromising the preserved land.

The team is deeply distressed and feels obligated to its investor supporters who assisted in buying the land, so it appears a legal battle with SpaceX may ensue. It’s important to mention that SpaceX has faced criticism for its handling of environmental matters in the past. We’ll have to wait and see if they manage to avoid paying the $15 million fine this time around. Keep an eye on our updates for more information about this developing story.
