‘Would my imagining them to part ways would have worked?': GV Prakash's mother REACTS to son's divorce with Saindhavi

As a devoted follower of Tamil cinema and music for decades, I have witnessed the journey of many artists, their relationships, and their challenges. The recent news of GV Prakash and Saindhavi’s divorce has left me with a heavy heart, given their long history together and the sweet bond they shared.

Back in May, everyone was surprised when GV Prakash and Saindhavi made public their decision to divorce, ending a marriage that had lasted over 11 years. As parents to daughter Anvi, they have been navigating the aftermath of their separation since then. More recently, GV Prakash’s mother shared her thoughts on the matter during a podcast discussion.

During an interview with Gallata, GV Prakash’s mother and singer A. R. Reihana expressed her deep admiration for Saindhavi. Regarding their relationship, she shared, “Saindhavi is a remarkable woman. I can’t help but wonder why things ended the way they did. I truly wish she would return home. If I had imagined them parting ways when they were together, would it have changed anything? And now that they’ve separated, do I hope for reconciliation? No, it seems fate has its own course. I am not to blame in any way.

Beyond this, Reihana further discussed her relationship with Saindhavi and expressed that she finds comfort in her ex-daughter-in-law over her own daughter. She mentioned, “When I discussed my son’s divorce with him, his reasons, although challenging for me to accept, are understandable from his perspective.

It is pertinent to mention that this is the first time GV Prakash’s mother has talked about her son’s divorce publicly. For the unversed, GV Prakash and Saindhavi have known each other for more than 2 decades. The duo went to the same school and later started dating. In 2013, GV Prakash and Saindhavi exchanged wedding vows and welcomed their only daughter Anvi in 2020.

Things were running smoothly until May 13th, when the couple, GV Prakash and Saindhavi, announced their separation via a social media post. They cited mental well-being and improvement as the reason for their divorce and kindly asked the media, friends, and fans to respect their privacy during this intimate life transition.

Subsequently, after announcing their divorce, GV Prakash and Saindhavi encountered negative feedback and harmful comments on social media, which had a profound impact on them. In response, they chose to release assertive statements addressing these malicious comments online.
