Colin Farrell Wore Prosthetic ‘Penguin Penis’ to Play Oz Cobb

As a long-time fan of Colin Farrell‘s versatile acting prowess, I must admit that his dedication to immersing himself into the character of Oz Cobb for HBO’s The Penguin is nothing short of remarkable. The fact that he was willing to don a fake crotch, complete with a detachable penguin penis, just to stay true to the character speaks volumes about his commitment to his craft.

In order to embody the character of Oz Cobb for HBO’s “The Penguin,” Colin Farrell needed a comprehensive makeover, going so far as to use a prosthetic lower body region.

Discussing The Penguin’s debut tonight, Farrell reminisced about the challenging makeup transformation into Cobb. One memorable scene featured Cobb in the nude (though viewers won’t see anything explicit), and he joked that artist Mike Marino created a “penguin prosthetic” for him to wear.

Marino is both clever and eccentric. He said, “I created a penguin’s private part for you.” Farrell replied, “Is that true? Nobody will notice it anyway. I don’t think I want to step onto set with a penguin’s private part.” To which he responded, “No, no, no, man. It’s detachable, it uses Velcro. It even has a beak at the end of it.” So, in the end, Farrell ended up using a detachable, Velcro-attached beaked object that resembled a penguin’s private part on set.
