Saw Theatrical Rerelease Date Set for 20th Anniversary

As a die-hard horror fan who’s seen more horror movies than I care to count, the news of the Saw theatrical rerelease is like music to my ears! I remember watching the original back in 2004, and it still gives me chills. The suspense, the gore, and the twisted puzzles – it’s a recipe for horror perfection!

Lionsgate and Fathom Events have disclosed the planned theater re-release date for future screenings of the 2004 survival horror film directed by James Wan, titled “Saw”.

In the summary of the movie, we find Adam Stanheight, a photographer, and Lawrence Gordon, an oncologist, waking up, discovering they’re shackled to pipes in a grubby restroom. They soon understand that a ruthless serial killer known as “Jigsaw” has them trapped, demanding they solve his twisted puzzle to survive. The story also unfolds the grim outcomes faced by his earlier victims through flashbacks. In a chilling twist, Dr. Gordon’s wife and child are compelled to watch his ordeal on a closed-circuit video.

When is the Saw theatrical rerelease date?

To mark its 20th anniversary, the uncensored version of Saw will hit movie theaters across the country on Sunday, October 20, and on Wednesday, October 23. Additionally, each showing will come with extra bonus material, which includes lead actor Tobin Bell discussing the dedicated fanbase of the horror series and providing behind-the-scenes insights. Tickets for these special screenings can be purchased at Fathom Events or at participating theater ticket booths.

In 2004, the horror film that became known as “Saw” was helmed by director James Wan, who later created The Conjuring Universe. Leigh Whannell, known for directing “The Invisible Man,” penned the screenplay and also appeared in the movie playing Jigsaw alongside Bell. Other notable cast members included Cary Elwes as Dr. Lawrence Gordon, Danny Glover as Detective David Tapp, Ken Leung as Detective Steven Sing, Dina Meyer as Kerry, Shawnee Smith as Amanda, Makenzie Vega as Diana Gordon, Monica Potter as Alison Gordon, and more. The movie was a huge hit, leading to ten subsequent sequels, with “Saw XI” scheduled for release in 2025.
