Netflix’s Monster Season 3 Stars Charlie Hunnam as Killer Ed Gein

As a seasoned gamer of true crime dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement for the third season of Monster on Netflix! The addition of Charlie Hunnam as Ed Gein promises to deliver a chilling performance that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I’ll be stepping into the chilling shoes of serial killer Ed Gein for the third season of Netflix’s gripping true-crime anthology series, “Monster.” Known for my roles as Jax Teller in the FX series “Sons of Anarchy” and King Arthur in “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,” I’m now gearing up to bring Raymond Smith to life in “The Gentlemen” (2020) and Kai in the Rebel Moon franchise. Can’t wait to dive into this new role!

Monster Season 3 cast adds Charlie Hunnam as Ed Gein

At a special event showcasing Monster Season 2: Monsters – The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, held in Los Angeles, California, it was revealed that Charlie Hunnam will take on the role of Ed Gein in the upcoming third season of the widely-watched series. The second season is scheduled to debut on Netflix on September 19, 2024.

Ed Gein was a suspected serial killer, grave robber, and convicted murderer, primarily operating in and around his town of Plainfield, Wisconsin during the 1950s. In 1957, it was discovered that Gein, now infamously known as the Butcher of Plainfield or the Plainfield Phantom, excavated human remains from graves and crafted everyday items and garments using them.

Furthermore, Gein admitted to taking the lives of tavern owner Mary Hogan and hardware store proprietor Bernice Worden. He was also suspected in numerous unsolved cases across the state. Despite being convicted for Worden’s murder, his insanity was verified in a subsequent trial. For the rest of his days, he resided in a mental health institution before passing away at the Mendota Mental Health Institute in 1984, aged 77.

The series titled “Monster” made its debut on Netflix on September 21, 2022, originally known as “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” Contrary to initial expectations, this show was later transformed from a limited series into an anthology. As the titles imply, the first season delved into the sordid tale of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (portrayed by Evan Peters), while future seasons are expected to concentrate on Lyle and Erik Menendez, brothers who tragically took their parents’ lives.
