Hollywood Brown Injury Update: When Will Marquise Brown Return?

As a long-time NFL fanatic with scars from countless Sunday afternoons spent glued to my TV screen, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment hearing about Marquise “Hollywood” Brown’s injury update. The guy was just starting to shine in Kansas City before fate decided to take him out of the game.

There’s a lot of concern among football enthusiasts regarding the current state of Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, the wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, his recent shoulder dislocation during a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 10 isn’t healing as quickly as initially expected. The initial plan was for him to make a comeback within a month, but it appears that he will be out for an extended period during the 2024 NFL regular season. At this point, we are gathering information about his recovery timeline and potential return date.

How long will Hollywood Brown be out?

Hollywood Brown’s absence will extend for the upcoming four matches, implying that he could potentially rejoin the team on October 20 when they face off against the San Francisco 49ers, assuming a speedy recovery is in the cards.

According to ESPN’s report, the delay in four games is because Brown needs surgery for his sternoclavicular injury. This is a joint located where the sternum (breastbone) meets the clavicle (collarbone), which is the only joint connecting the arm to the body. Due to this surgery, he will be placed on the injured reserve list.

It’s unexpected that surgery is required now, given that Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had previously declared on August 12 that Brown wouldn’t necessitate such a procedure, as stated to the NFL.

During March last year, the 27-year-old wide receiver signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs, thereby offering quarterback Patrick Mahomes additional chances to play.

Over the last few weeks, numerous NFL players have been dealing with a range of injuries, among them Terrel Bernard (Buffalo Bills’ linebacker), Taron Johnson (also from the Buffalo Bills), Josh Jacobs (Green Bay Packers), and Bryce Hall (Tampa Bay Buccaneers). Additionally, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered another concussion, keeping him off the field for a prolonged period.

Concerning the Kansas City Chiefs, Rashee Rice hasn’t faced suspension so far, even though he was part of a multiple-car collision.
