What's next for Aemond in House of the Dragon Season 3 based on the book?

As a dedicated fan with a heart that beats for the Targaryen dynasty and the intricate tapestry of Westeros, I find myself eagerly anticipating the unfolding saga of House of the Dragon. The cliffhanger ending of Season 2 left us all on edge, with Aemond Targaryen’s regency coming to an abrupt end. But what lies ahead for our young Prince?

In the finale of “House of the Dragon” Season 2, Aemond Targaryen assumed the role of Prince Regent. Yet, by the end, he had nothing to rule over as Alicent and Rhaenyra reached an agreement for Rhaenyra to claim the Iron Throne. So, what will become of Aemond in “House of the Dragon” Season 3?

Let’s delve into George R.R. Martin’s novel “Fire & Blood” for a glimpse into future events. Although there have been alterations to the original storylines, it’s reasonable to expect that Aemond’s tale may follow a familiar path as Helaena has foretold what awaits him.

In the narrative, Helaena reveals that Aemond’s fate is to perish, consumed by the enigmatic Gods Eye. What happens in the book? (or)

Aemond heads to Harrenhal in House of the Dragon Season 3

Towards the close of the second series, it’s revealed that Aemond is planning a journey to Harrenhal. His aim is to ally with Criston Cole and confront Daemon, who is presently assembling an army there.

Upon Aemond’s arrival, it turns out that Daemon had departed earlier. In the meantime, Daemon had united with Rhaenyra, who now holds King’s Landing.

As a fervent viewer, I find myself recounting an intriguing tale from the world of Westeros: In Harrenhal, none other than Aemond Targaryen presides, issuing the grim decree for the lives of Ser Simon Strong and his kin. Yet, Alys Rivers miraculously escapes this fate. The twists continue as Alys and Aemond share more than just a bond; they share a bed. Alys later asserts that she and Aemond have wed and that she carries the legitimate offspring of the dragon-rider. This claim, however, remains unverified, leaving me eager to see how this enigma unfolds in the upcoming TV series.

It’s no shocker to me, given his quick temper and fondness for destruction, that Aemond sets fire to several strongholds of House Black in the Riverlands.

Aemond’s death does happen above the Gods Eye

Daemon, accompanied by Nettles, scours all around in search of Aemond. It’s necessary for Daemon to travel to Harrenhal on Carazes to confront Aemond in a duel. After waiting a span of 13 days, Aemond finally arrives, leading to their confrontation. This encounter ultimately unfolds as the Battle Above the Gods Eye.

In the skies, the two colossal dragons clashed, giving Caraxes the chance for a surprise attack on Vhagar, biting deeply into her neck. As these fearsome beasts plummeted from the heavens, Daemon skillfully struck Dark Sister into Aemond’s unseeing eye. Tragically, both dragons perished upon impact with the lake, along with their riders.

It’s strongly suggested that they are deceased. Years following the events, Aemond’s remains were discovered at the bottom of the Gods Eye. On the other hand, Daemon’s body was never found, leading many to speculate that he somehow avoided death and ventured to Essos to be with Nettles, living a tranquil life there. However, the prophecies of House of the Dragon hint at Daemon meeting his end in the same battle.

In the world of “House of the Dragon,” it seems like we might be heading towards some major shifts come Season 3. As a player, I feel it’s strategic to eliminate these two characters, paving the way for a more peaceful narrative in what appears to be our fourth and final season.
