Veteran lyricist Gurucharan passes away at 77 due to prolonged illness, actor Mohan Babu offers condolences

As a fervent admirer of the magic that words can weave, I am deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary lyricist, Gurucharan. His melodious verses have been the rhythm to my heartbeats for countless years, and his songs have been the soundtrack to my life’s journey.

Noted lyricist Gurucharan has sadly passed away at the age of 77. On September 12th, he took his final breath. It is reported that he had been battling a long-term illness and had been receiving treatment in a hospital for several days prior to his passing. Tragically, his health issues proved too much for him.

Known widely for timeless tunes in Telugu films, lyricist Gurucharan frequently composed verses for actors such as Mohan Babu during the course of his professional life.

Deeply sorrowful due to the demise of his cherished friend, actor Mohan Babu expressed his sympathies through his social media account. In a heartfelt message, he reminisced about Gurucharan, whom he first met when Gurucharan was an assistant writer for renowned author Atreya. Over the course of approximately 10 films, Gurucharan served as a lyricist under Mohan Babu’s production company, Srilakshmi Prasanna Pictures.

He also mentioned that the songs he composed for films such as Alludugaru, Assembly Rowdy, Rowdygari Pellam, Brahma, among others, are simply outstanding. Mourning his premature demise, I wish for God to bestow tranquility upon his soul and family. Regrettably, I am currently abroad and unable to be with him. My condolences. Om Peace.

In his creative endeavors, Gurucharan has crafted lyrics for numerous songs such as Kunthi Kumari, Muddabanti Puvvulo, Alludugaru and many others. It is said that he has written over 200 songs in the Telugu language.

Contrastingly, Mohan Babu, a well-known actor today, first ventured into show business during the 70s. Prior to his fame as an actor, he served as an assistant director. His original name is Manchu Bhakthavatsalam Naidu; however, following the success of his movie Swargam Narakam, he chose to be known as Mohan Babu. To date, it’s said that he has acted in over 500 films.

Next, he will be seen in the film Kannappa starring Vishnu Manchu as the main lead.
