Why Is a Dancing with the Stars Contestant Wearing an Ankle Monitor?

As a fan who has been captivated by the intriguing tales of con artists and their exploits, I find it fascinating that Anna Sorokin, aka Anna Delvey, is gracing the stage of Dancing with the Stars. Her life story, as depicted in the Netflix series Inventing Anna, is a testament to the allure of wealth and the lengths people will go to maintain a facade.

Excitedly, I can’t help but share the intriguing news that infamous social climber Anna Sorokin is joining the cast of “Dancing with the Stars” Season 33 – though she’ll be wearing an ankle monitor as part of her parole conditions. This unexpected addition has sparked a flurry of questions among fans, myself included.

Why does Anna Sorokin have a monitoring device on her ankle during Dancing with the Stars? Here’s all you need to know.

Why is Anna Sorokin wearing an ankle monitor on Dancing with the Stars?

Anna Sorokin is wearing an ankle monitor in Dancing with the Stars due to being under house arrest.

Recently, Sorokin received approval from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to participate in this season of Dancing with the Stars. She was encouraged to take part in the show, and she recently confirmed this permission during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. This announcement came shortly after the cast for Dancing with the Stars Season 33 had been unveiled on Good Morning America.

Despite wearing the ankle monitor, it won’t impact Sorokin’s performance at the dance competition, as she mentioned, “I don’t think it will affect my performance; it’s quite light.

As per the statement made by Anna Sorokin’s representative, Juda Engelmayer, to the Associated Press, her new house arrest terms allow her to move within a 70-mile radius of her home base and also roam freely within any of the five boroughs of New York City.

Since her house arrest started in October 2022, Sorokin has been using an ankle monitor. After serving time in prison from February 2021, she was taken into custody by immigration authorities. They accused her of exceeding her visa stay and ordered her deportation to Germany. She remained in ICE custody for a year until the judge changed her detention status to home confinement while she fought her deportation case.

The upcoming season’s lineup features Dwight Howard, Tori Spelling, Eric Roberts, Danny Amendola (Super Bowl champion), Chandler Kinney (actor), Ilona Maher (Olympic rugby player), Brooks Nader (model), Phaedra Parks (Bravo star), Reginald VelJohnson, and Stephen Nedoroscik (Olympic gymnast). Joining these familiar faces is Anna Sorokin, who is also known as Anna Delvey.
