After tearing it up at James Monroe High School in the Bronx, he went on to play for my hometown team for a staggering 18 years – the longest-serving player in Mets history, logging 1,853 games. Kranepool’s professional journey with the Mets kicked off during their first season in 1962, where he stayed for a remarkable 18 years.
