Only Murders in the Building’s Eva Longoria and Eugene Levy cameos explained

Eva Longoria and Eugene Levy portray fictitious representations of Selena Gomez’s character Mabel and Steve Martin’s character Charles in the story.

In the latest episode of Only Murders in the Building Season 4, Longoria’s Mabel, Levy’s Charles, and Galifianakis’ Oliver play crucial roles. Here, they join forces with the real-life versions of Mabel, Charles, and Oliver to probe into the murder of Sazz Pataki. This collaboration is part of a character study for the upcoming movie adaptation of the Only Murders in the Building podcast, where Longoria, Levy, and Galifianakis portray their respective characters based on their real-life counterparts.

During their separate investigations, Mabel and a character named Eva Longoria, who had a strained bond throughout the episode, went to Rudy Thurber’s apartment for questioning. They wanted to find out if the clue discovered in Dudenoff’s apartment pertaining to Sazz Pataki’s murder was actually tinsel. However, trouble arose when Mabel grew annoyed with Eva because she entered Rudy’s apartment before Mabel could. This annoyance intensified as Eva became overly eager to solve the case. To make matters worse, Eva caricatured Mabel by implying that she was an early-day drinker.

Eventually, Mabel begins to appreciate Eva Longoria more as she observes her unwavering dedication to solving the mystery.

Simultaneously, Charles and admirer Eugene Levy team up to scrutinize Vince Fisher at West Tower. Initially, they suspect Vince harbors a grudge against Charles. Moreover, the fact that Vince wears an eyepatch leads them to surmise that he may have inadvertently killed Sazz instead of Charles, whom Vince mistakenly believed was his true target.

Later on, Charles and Eugene trick Vince by handing him phony eye drops to treat his pink eye. Matters spiral out of control when Vince grows angry and ends up breaking Eugene’s nose instead. Eventually, Charles and Vince both come to understand that they had misjudged each other and resolve their disagreement, ultimately forming a friendship.
