As a seasoned Outlander fan who has navigated through time loops, war-torn Scotland, and heart-wrenching separations, I must say that Brianna’s journey in Season 7B seems to be no walk in the park. The fact that she needs to “survive” in 1980, a supposedly safer era, is intriguing and slightly concerning.
At the close of Outlander’s seventh season’s first half, Brianna and Roger found themselves apart due to temporal differences. Roger journeyed to the past alongside Buck in search of Jemmy, whereas Bree stayed back in 1980 with Mandy.
Meanwhile, as Roger is exploring the past, Matt B. Roberts revealed to TVLine about Brianna’s actions in her own time. Alone though she may be, she persists in keeping faith that Roger will return to her. Interestingly enough, it seems that Brianna has been making preparations for Roger’s eventual return.

Roberts implies that Brianna might face challenges or difficulties, as opposed to using “survive.” Given it’s the 1980s, one would expect this era to be safer than the 18th century. However, it seems that she could still encounter some issues.
In Season 7A, it became clear that Rob Cameron had abducted Jemmy. It seemed as though Rob was using the stones to guide Jemmy towards hidden treasure – a secret that only Jemmy was aware of regarding the buried gold.
If Bree must endure something, it might imply that someone else is collaborating with Rob. Could they target Mandy, thereby posing a threat against Brianna? What if Rob Cameron hadn’t escorted Jemmy into the past? This could potentially put Brianna and her family in immediate peril.
Bree needs to keep her family whole in Outlander Season 7B
There are additional challenges ahead. Brianna must ensure that her family remains united. She should also make preparations for Roger’s return.
The issue lies in Bree not knowing when Roger will reappear, as he won’t return until he locates Jemmy. This could potentially leave Bree by herself for quite some time. To keep up appearances for Mandy, Bree must ensure that their daughter grows up contentedly and healthily, as her spouse and son are away.
What’s interesting, though, is that Roberts says that Bree is making sure “Roger” has something to come back to. He doesn’t mention Jemmy, which hints that Jemmy isn’t in the past and Bree knows it. Of course, book fans know what’s happened to Jemmy, but show-first fans don’t. We’re going to leave this as a tease for now, but we will get into the spoilers in another post.
She has a struggle to survive and keep the family whole so there’s something for Roger to come back to.
