Bob's Burgers: The Big Stieblitzki is a lesson in maturity

As a longtime fan of Bob’s Burgers, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation with the return of season 14! Having grown up with this quirky, yet heartwarming show, it’s like revisiting old friends who never fail to make me laugh.

Delightful news! It appears that the popular series, “Bob’s Burgers,” is returning with additional installments for season 14, as hinted at during San Diego Comic-Con!

As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share some good news! Despite season 15 of Bob’s Burgers not premiering until September 29, we’ve got an early treat! The Belcher family is making a comeback slightly ahead of schedule due to a backlog of episodes. This unexpected bonus is the result of past Hollywood strikes, so let’s cherish these extra episodes coming our way!

Just when I thought my day couldn’t get any better, turns out Bob’s Burgers missed out on the Emmy for Best Animated Program. Given that it falls under the Creative Arts Emmys, we got a sneak peek at the results and it seems Blue Eye Samurai took the crown instead.

Regrettably, but excitingly, the quality of Bob’s Burgers continues to improve, which means another victory is on its way. For now, let’s appreciate the remaining episodes from season 14 instead.

Here’s what happened on “The Big Stieblitzki”

If you missed out on “The Big Stibelitzki,” then there will be spoilers from this point on. This is your spoiler warning so be sure to get caught up before reading any further.

Bob's Burgers: The Big Stieblitzki is a lesson in maturity

The story starts off by showing the Belcher family preparing for Rudy’s father Sylvester’s birthday party. Louise is anxious about Rudy, as his parents are going through some difficult times. To ensure that Sylvester has an unforgettable celebration, the Belcher children take it upon themselves to make the event special since Paul, his mom’s new boyfriend, will be there. However, things seem to worsen when Sylvester and Paul go bowling together, causing Rudy great discomfort. In an attempt to improve the situation, Louise comes up with a plan to keep Paul occupied while Gene and Rudy work on plucking Sylvester’s eyebrow hairs, and Tina is tasked with finding a girlfriend for him.

In a bid to assist Sylvester and potentially help Rudy’s father, Louise approaches a bowling alley staff member for assistance, which could be seen as helping Rudy’s dad cheat in the game. Tina appears unenthusiastic about this plan, but Louise feels obligated to keep her promise to Sylvester. While trying to determine the bowling order, Louise discovers that Rudy’s father might not be performing as well as usual. It seems that Sylvester is manipulating the game in Paul’s favor, but Rudy resists this notion.

In an attempt to prevent Rudy from carrying out his plan, Louise hastens to the bowling alley and manages to dissuade him. Louise clarifies to Rudy that the issue isn’t with his parents but stems from him, and eventually succeeds in persuading Rudy not to follow through with his scheme. After speaking with his father, Rudy learns that things aren’t as they appear, and his dad is actually supportive of the current situation.

At the close of the show, Sylvester finds himself in a flirtatious situation with his fellow cooking classmate, while Linda reveals the moment she expressed her love for the first time to Bob.

Bob’s Burgers is finishing strong with season 14

Bob's Burgers: The Big Stieblitzki is a lesson in maturity

Since season 15 of Bob’s Burgers hasn’t started yet, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the last episodes of season 14. But, as usual, the show didn’t let me down. This time around, instead of focusing on the Belcher family, the episode centered on Rudy and his struggle with his parents dating new people, which caused him a lot of internal conflict. Although the Belcher kids were involved, the plot primarily revolved around Rudy dealing with these mature issues.

In Rudy’s character, his parents’ divorce plays a significant role, making it fascinating to witness the series delving into this aspect. Typically, we follow Louise’s cunning plans, but here, she was the one halting everything. This shift offered a refreshing twist and showcased the skillful character development by the writers of Bob’s Burgers.

Despite “The Amazing Rudy” not bagging an Emmy for Bob’s Burgers, the show scored big with another episode centered around Rudy. Here’s hoping they continue to push boundaries in season 15. We’ll have to wait until September 29 to learn more. In any case, this was a delightful surprise and an enjoyable way to welcome us back to the Belchers’ world after the shortage of episodes last season.

Bob’s Burgers airs on Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
