As a long-time WWE fan with memories of the Mysterios’ electrifying performances etched deep into my gaming soul, I must say, the current dynamic between Dominik and Rey Mysterio has been nothing short of intriguing. The younger Mysterio’s heel turn and his unapologetic character growth have added a fresh twist to the saga that has kept me hooked.
Over the last two years, the WWE fanbase has witnessed the growing rift between Dominik Mysterio and his legendary father, Rey Mysterio. Debuting in WWE back in 2020, Dominik is the son of the revered wrestler known as a luchador. Initially, WWE teamed him up with his dad as a fresh babyface character.
Without a clear persona, Dominik found it difficult to resonate with the audience. But then, in 2022, he grabbed attention during WWE Clash at the Castle by turning against his father and joining The Judgment Day. Since then, he’s taken on a villainous stance. His solo career has flourished since parting ways with his father, leading to a series of matches against him at WrestleMania. Dominik’s transformation into a villain signifies a substantial evolution in his character.
Currently, Dominik Mysterio finds himself deeply embroiled in a plotline alongside WWE Women’s Champion Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley. This association has led to significant backlash from fans, as he recently chose to align with Morgan over Ripley. As a result, Dominik continues to be one of the most hated characters (heels) in WWE. The intriguing dilemma now is whether Dominik Mysterio will seek reconciliation with his father, given his rising prominence within the promotion.
What did Dominik Mysterio have to say about reconciliation?
Recently, WWE star Dominik Mysterio discussed the potential for reconciliation with his father, Rey Mysterio, during an interview on Rosenberg Wrestling. He described that such a reconciliation might occur if his father made a significant, impactful gesture.
As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “He made it clear that Rey should dramatically reveal his identity in the arena, right before my eyes. He should remove his mask, surrender it to me symbolically, acknowledging me as the best Mysterio there ever was. In this act of submission, he would bow down to me, and I’d proudly carry on the legacy as the greatest Mysterio of all time.
As a gamer, I laid down my conditions for making peace with Rey Mysterio, and interviewer Peter Rosenberg wasn’t shy about voicing his disapproval, labeling them as impractical. I quickly made it clear that although I don’t insist on my father bowing, what I truly want is for him to kneel and remove his mask.
Additionally, he made fun of his father’s physical traits and wrestling abilities, boasting that he excels beyond him in all aspects. It appears that Dominik Mysterio has no intention of making peace with Rey Mysterio after setting forth his terms.
