In a recent turn of events, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s final movie featuring Ranbir Kapoor emerged as one of his most successful productions. Despite facing criticism due to its violent themes, the film shattered numerous box office records. However, speculation about Ranbir Kapoor not being the original choice for “Animal” escalated drastically a few days before its premiere. Multiple sources claimed that Mahesh Babu was initially considered for the role. Eventually, Sandeep Reddy Vanga clarified the situation, stating that Ranbir Kapoor had always been his preferred actor for “Animal”.
At a gathering, when asked if Ranbir Kapoor was initially chosen for his movie titled ‘Animal’, Sandeep affirmatively answered “yes”. He explained that Ranbir had been his top pick for the role and no other actor was considered. This statement serves to confirm rumors that he had also shared the script with Mahesh Babu, but unfortunately, the actor declined the film offer.
In another interview, Sandeep mentioned that he had discussions with Mahesh Babu concerning a project known as “Devil,” but this collaboration did not come to fruition. “I shared a distinct storyline with Mahesh, not ‘Animal.’ The title is ‘Devil,’ and it centers around a particularly violent character,” he explained further.
Despite the fact that Mahesh Babu has a pattern of turning down films that later proved to be blockbusters, such as Sukumar’s Pushpa: The Rule, Suriya’s Ghajini, Rana Daggubati’s Leader, and more, the 2023 Bollywood film “Animal” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga offers a different story. This action-packed entertainer boasts Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Tripti Dimri, and Anil Kapoor in key roles.
Despite generating significant revenue at the box office, the film Animal drew criticism for its offensive and violent themes. As confirmed by the creators and hinted at during a post-credits scene, the sequel, Animal Park, is currently being prepared for production.
Animal focuses on the tale of a son (Ranbir Kapoor) who undergoes a remarkable transformation as the bond with his father (Anil Kapoor) begins to fracture, and he becomes consumed by a quest for vengeance. The film is now available on Netflix for streaming.
