In a 2018 interview with People, these two celebrities looked back on their initial encounter at the Independent Spirit Awards, which took place at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Reeves mentioned that it was around 1987 or 1988 when they first crossed paths, while Ryder noted that this meeting wasn’t broadcasted. Instead, Buck Henry hosted the event, and they were the ones who presented the Best Supporting Actor award together
The connection between them grew stronger prior to collaborating on the 1992 gothic horror movie, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, helmed by Francis Ford Coppola.
