Queer Photo Unveils New Look at Luca Guadagnino’s Daniel Craig Movie

As a seasoned cinephile who’s seen more movies than I care to count, I’m absolutely thrilled about Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming film “Queer.” Having been captivated by his masterpiece, Call Me by Your Name, I can only imagine the magic he’ll weave with this new romance drama set in 1940s Mexico City. The star-studded cast, led by Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, promises an unforgettable journey.

Prior to its debut at the 81st Venice International Film Festival tomorrow, a fresh photograph from Luca Guadagnino’s latest romance drama featuring queer themes has been unveiled. This is Guadagnino’s first gay-themed period film since his significant critical acclaim with the 2017 release, Call Me by Your Name, which was nearly a decade ago.

The story is set in Mexico City during the 1940s, where we find ourselves following Lee, who has escaped from a drug raid in New Orleans. In Mexico City, Lee explores the city’s nightlife and develops an affection for Allerton, a former American Navy serviceman with a history of drug use.

Who is in the new Queer photo?

In the latest sneak peek, the new official offering gives viewers an up-close glimpse of leading actors Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, who are depicted engaged in a conversation at a bar within the movie. As of now, there’s no set theatrical release date for this film, but it’s anticipated that A24 will take charge of its North American distribution instead.

The movie titled “Queer” is led by director Luca Guadagnino from a screenplay penned by Justin Kuritzkes, who previously worked on the script for “Challengers.” This adaptation is based on William S. Burroughs’ novel published in 1985 under the same name. Alongside Craig and Starkey, the cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, Henry Zaga, Drew Droege, Ariel Schulman, Colin Bates, Omar Apollo, Ronia Ava, and others.

In addition to his work with Queer, Luca Guadagnino is currently involved in another highly anticipated project – a thriller movie called After the Hunt. This film features an impressive cast including Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloe Sevigny. Meanwhile, Craig is set to appear next in Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, where he will once again play detective Benoit Blanc.
