2. Vijay Sethupathi’s Viduthalai Part 2 release date out

Under the direction of Vetrimaaran, the much-anticipated sequel to Vijay Sethupathi’s film “Viduthalai Part 2” is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20, 2024. This thrilling news was shared with fans via a social media post on August 29.

In this crime-focused drama set in the past, Soori, Manju Warrier, and Gautham Vasudev Menon take on significant roles alongside Sethupathi. The movie, titled “Viduthalai Part 2,” is inspired by B. Jeyamohan’s short story “Thunaivan.” The second installment follows the story of Constable Kumaresan, played by Soori, who is assigned to capture Perumal, a teacher and separatist leader portrayed by Vijay Sethupathi.

3. Nagarjuna and Shruti Haasan join the cast of Rajinikanth’s Coolie

On Nagarjuna’s 65th birthday, the creators of the Coolie movie starring Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed the initial image of Nagarjuna from the film. In a black-and-white poster, Nagarjuna is shown in a serious yet stylish demeanor. The iconic actor looks handsome with his rugged beard and mustache, donning dark sunglasses, a pair of shades, and a gold watch. The picture also revealed that Nagarjuna’s character in the movie will be named Simon.

On August 30, the makers revealed Shruti Haasan’s initial appearance as Preethi. This new poster showcases Shruti, a versatile actress popular across India, emitting a powerful aura that fits her character perfectly. Moreover, Soubin Shahir, known for his roles in Manjummel Boys, was announced as an official cast member of the film alongside Rajinikanth.

4. Legal notice to Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 team

After the debut of Kamal Haasan’s movie Indian 2, it was reported that the Indian Multiplex Association had issued a legal warning to the Indian 2 production team due to alleged violations of streaming platform regulations.

According to the source, “The Multiplex Association of India has established regulations for the distribution of Hindi films in cinemas. These rules demand that producers adhere strictly to an 8-week streaming exclusivity period, and those who fail to comply with these guidelines will not be allowed a screening in the leading three national multiplex chains, which include PVRinox and Cinepolis. Notably, the team behind Indian 2 (also known as Hindustani 2) has agreed to these terms and secured a release in national cinema chains.”

Additionally, the source stated that the multiplex association was surprised to find out that the Hindi version of Indian 2 was streaming on Netflix ahead of the scheduled 8-week period. In a perfect scenario, Indian 2 would have streamed on September 6, but it’s already available, which hasn’t been well received by key figures in the cinema industry. This is according to the source.

5. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s new film announced

In a buzzworthy move, Prithviraj Sukumaran unveiled his upcoming project with director Nissam Basheer on social media. The title of the movie is “Nobody”. While specific details about the film remain scarce, it’s known that it falls under the production house of Prithviraj Productions, in partnership with E4 Entertainment.
