The upcoming releases promise an emotional rollercoaster with Drive My Car and a magical adventure with The Boy and the Heron. It seems like Studio Ghibli has outdone themselves yet again!
HBO Max’s new TV and movie releases schedule for September 2-8, 2024, includes Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron and Drive My Car.
From September 2 onwards, HBO Max subscribers will have the opportunity to watch Drive My Car, a poignant Japanese drama film that revolves around Yusuke Kafuku, a grieving stage actor and director, dealing with the loss of his wife. In the narrative, Kafuku accepts a directing role for Uncle Vanya at a Hiroshima festival where he forms a bond with Misaki, who encourages him to share more about his personal journey.
On September 6th, “The Boy and the Heron” is set to premiere on HBO Max. Hayao Miyazaki directed this film, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2023. The story follows Mahito, a character who relocates from Tokyo to his stepmother’s countryside residence. His world undergoes a significant transformation when he encounters an unusual realm inhabited by a gray heron that addresses him as “the one long-awaited.”
Also releasing this week is Triple 9.
The movie, titled Triple 9, revolves around a group of unscrupulous crooks and dishonest law enforcement officials. They devise a scheme to kill a fellow officer, aiming to clear the path for their most lucrative robbery.
