Originating on CBS in 2000, the American adaptation of “Survivor” is hosted by Jeff Probst. With a total of 46 seasons, this reality competition show has gained immense popularity. The concept for the American series was born from “Expedition Robinson” (1997), which originated in Sweden and was created by Mark Burnett, inspired by Charlie Parsons’ work. In “Survivor”, participants are placed in a remote setting where they must construct shelter, find food, create fire, and perform various challenges that test their physical and mental abilities as they compete against each other to avoid elimination. As the series progresses, the group is gradually reduced until only two or three contestants remain, which occurs through voting by fellow competitors. The eliminated participants then vote on the final contestants to determine who will be crowned the Sole Survivor and awarded a $1 million prize.
