What Happened to Vinnie Pasquantino? MLB Injury Update

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours playing baseball video games, I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Vinnie Pasquantino. The way he went down clutching his hand after that play against the Astros brought back memories of countless times my virtual players got hurt in the heat of battle.

Currently, Vinnie Pasquantino is a professional baseball player in Major League Baseball (MLB), representing the Kansas City Royals. In his role, he plays both first base and serves as the designated hitter for the team. Unfortunately, during a recent match against the Houston Astros, an injury forced him to leave the game towards its end.

Here’s what happened to Vinnie Pasquantino and when he might return to play.

How did Vinnie Pasquantino get injured while playing baseball?

Vinnie Pasquantino sustained an injury to his hand while trying to catch the ball at first base.

In the lower part of the 8th inning, a pitch from KC’s Lucas Erceg led to a ground ball headed towards Pasquantino. He aimed to scoop it up with his throwing hand, but the ball slipped away. Erceg retrieved it and tossed it towards Pasquantino at first base. As he tried to grab the throw, Pasquantino got his hand stuck, with Yainer Diaz of the Astros charging toward him.

Due to the event that transpired, both Erceg and Pasquantino sustained hand injuries. Manager Matt Quatraro assessed Pasquantino before he left the field. As reported by The Kansas City Star, Quatraro mentioned that they were undergoing tests, specifically X-rays on their hands, so they don’t have many details to share yet. After the incident, the Astros managed to score four runs in the eighth inning, with Mauricio Dubon delivering a two-run single against John Schreiber, who took over for Erceg.

When will Vinnie Pasquantino return to play with the Kansas City Royals?

Currently, there is no official confirmation on when Vinnie Pasquantino will return to play.

During an attempt to snag a spontaneous throw from Erceg at first base, Pasquantino suffered an injury to his hand, forcing him to leave the game in the eighth inning.

According to The Kansas City Star, when asked about Pasquantino’s possible comeback, Quatraro stated that they can’t definitively say when he will be back because he is still undergoing X-rays. All they know is that he mentioned experiencing pain, which led to his removal from the game. Consequently, we won’t have a clear idea about his return until the team assesses the test results.
