Game Over For XDefiant – Supposed "CoD Killer" Already Dead

As a seasoned gamer with a decade of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen games rise and fall like tides. XDefiant was once a beacon of hope in the gaming world, boasting an impressive 8 million players at its peak. However, the tide has turned, and now, it seems like a ghost town compared to its former glory.

The Hype is over for XDefiant. Now the game supposedly has one season left to improve the numbers.

From 8 Million To 20,000

According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is displeased with the decline in XDefiant’s player count. Initially, Ubisoft stated that approximately 8 million players were playing XDefiant. One factor contributing to its initial success was the lack of skill-based matchmaking in the game.

Approximately a couple of months following its launch, an insider from Ubisoft disclosed to Insider Gaming that the game has been having difficulty maintaining over 20,000 active players.

Season 3 Is The Last Chance

It seems that Ubisoft plans to end the game with one final season, which might lead to its termination. If this endeavor doesn’t succeed, it’s unclear what will happen, but there could be more job cuts at Ubisoft, as suggested by a pessimistic insider source who spoke to Insider Gaming.

For XDefiant, the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in October is likely to make things more challenging. It’s clear where our money would go if we were to place a bet…

Do you still play Ubisoft’s arcade shooter, or do you think the game is dead?
