The upcoming project starring Daniel Craig, titled “Queer,” which is being directed by Luca Guadagnino, has now secured a US distributor – A24. This film is loosely based on a novel by William S. Burroughs and is set in 1950s Mexico City. The story revolves around an American expat named William Lee who leads a solitary existence. However, his life undergoes a dramatic shift when Eugene Allerton, a young student, arrives in town.

A24 acquires rights to Queer starring Daniel Craig

The U.S. entertainment firm has now obtained the rights to distribute the historical romantic drama. This development prompted a shared celebratory note from Daniel Craig and Luca Guadagnino, who voiced their enthusiasm about the collaboration between ‘Queer’ and A24.

According to Variety, Craig and Guadagnino expressed their satisfaction in having A24 as the distributor for their movie, which they described as a work born out of love. They stated, “We are overjoyed that our film has found a home with a studio as bold, essential, and pioneering as A24.” They further added, “It is a deep privilege for us to bring Burroughs’ renowned novel to life on screen for the first time, and we express immense gratitude and excitement to be able to share it with our valued collaborators. We couldn’t hope for better partners on this journey.”

The agreement between the Daniel Craig’s Queer team and A24 was arranged by CAA Media Finance. This project has been jointly produced by multiple teams, including Fremantle, and Andrea Scrosati, who is the Group COO for Fremantle, expressed enthusiasm about the news update.

“Scrosati expressed excitement as Queer, a groundbreaking cinematic achievement, will debut in the U.S. through A24. He considers A24 an ideal collaborator for Luca Guadagnino’s moving and heartfelt movie, and everyone is eager to team up with their talented crew once more.”

The film titled “Queer” is set to premiere in cinemas this year, but it will first make its global debut at the 81st Venice Film Festival on September 3, 2024. Among other notable actors, Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey, Lesley Manville, and Jason Schwartzman are some of the key cast members in this production.
