What to do with Rice Cocoons in Black Myth: Wukong
To obtain the Elder Armourworm Spirit, you’ll need Rice Cocoons and another item called Proto Armourworm. This quest is quite extensive, so remember to retrace your steps if you come across details you may have overlooked along the way.

How to get three Rice Cocoons
In this process, breaking open larger spider cocoons scattered throughout the Webbed Hollow is the simplest task to gather Rice Cocoons. It appears there’s no specific spot within the Hollow where they drop, and the occurrence is random when you crack one open. However, the massive ones dangling from the ceiling with spider monsters inside don’t seem to yield any Rice Cocoons.
Where to get the Proto Armourworm
In the vicinity of the Verdure Bridge Shrine, within the Webbed Hollow, you’ll find the Proto Armourworm dropping from a nearby boss. To reach it, first head left over a partially broken green bridge or platform. Then, proceed around to your left and ascend some stone steps.
To your right, there’s an intricately designed archway, all draped in sticky cobwebs. Beyond that lies a network of tunnels, dark and dusty with more webs and little spider nests. Venture inside and press on until you encounter the Elder Armorworm, a boss battle. Don’t let its name scare you; it’s not too challenging to defeat. Once you do, the Proto Armorworm will be yours for the taking.
Take the Proto Armourworm to Chen Loong
With your newly acquired Proto Armourworm, head over to Chen Loong’s new residence in the Zodiac Village. You can get there by visiting a shrine and using teleportation. Once you arrive, have a chat with him and choose the option to hand over the Armourworm.
Feed the Little Guy
If you decide to take a break, you’ll notice that Chen Loong has positioned the Proto Armourworm in a basket close to his building’s entrance. Interact with it to offer it a Rice Cocoon, and remember, this needs to be done three times in total, pausing after each feeding session. Once you’ve fed it for the third time, take another break, then you can come back to discover the Elder Armourworm spirit, which is now present and ready for collection.
