Fear the Walking Dead and The Boys actress Colby Minifie in horror film The Surrender

As a devoted fan of captivating performances and intriguing storylines, I’m absolutely thrilled to see Colby Minifie taking on yet another compelling role in “The Surrender.” Her versatility as an actress, demonstrated through her remarkable roles in shows like “Fear the Walking Dead,” “The Boys,” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” is truly a testament to her talent.

According to Deadline, Colby Minifie and Grey’s Anatomy’s Kate Burton will star as the main characters in an independent horror film titled “The Surrender.” Notably, Minifie gained recognition for her role as Virginia in AMC’s hit series “Fear the Walking Dead.” She is arguably most famous for her portrayal of Ashley Barrett, an executive at Vought International, in Prime Video’s shows “The Boys” and its spinoff “Gen V.”

Julia Max’s directorial debut feature film, titled “The Surrender“, marks her first foray into filmmaking. Drawing inspiration from her personal journey following the demise of her stepfather, she brought this story to life on screen. The production company responsible for this movie is Codependent Films, with Mia Chang (It Follows), Lovell Holder (Peak Season), and Ian McDonald (Woman of the Hour) serving as producers. Susan Gelb, Adam Maffei, and Rob Massar (all from Peak Season) take on executive producer roles, while Brenden Rodriguez and Daniel Schwab serve as co-producers, with KW Campol assuming the position of associate producer.

The narrative revolves around a family where the head loses his life, straining an already tense bond between the mother and daughter who remain alive. Yearning for reunion with her deceased spouse, the mother seeks out a mysterious figure to bring him back from the dead. However, as the dark ritual escalates uncontrollably, these women are compelled to put aside their conflicts and jointly battle for survival.

Colby Minifie – other roles

Apart from “Fear the Walking Dead” and “The Boys”, Minifie has also been featured in episodes of Amazon Prime’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, Netflix’s original series “Jessica Jones”, “The Blacklist”, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, and “Nurse Jackie”.

Apart from that, she can be found in various films such as “I’m Thinking of Ending Things” by Charlie Kaufman, “Radium Girls”, and “Submission”.

2021 saw Minifie appearing in the film “Homebody,” a tale about body/personality swapping directed by Joseph Sackett. In this production, Minifie plays Melanie, a babysitter who’s also studying to be a doula, looking after a young boy named Johnny (Tre Ryder). As Johnny becomes increasingly enamored with Melanie, he stumbles upon transcendental meditation via YouTube and learns to switch lives with her. Jasmin Walker, known for her role in The Walking Dead: Dead City, also appears in the movie. “Homebody” is now available for streaming on Peacock.
