As a seasoned Guardian who’s battled through countless Vex invasions, I must say that this Encore mission has been quite the rollercoaster ride! The fight against the Subjugator was straightforward enough, but the tunnels and caverns were a labyrinthine maze that would make even Minos green with envy.
In Destiny 2’s latest Episode: Echoes Act 3, a fresh adventure called Encore: Exotic Mission has been added. This mission plunges players into the core of Nessus to eradicate a Vex menace. Completing this mission grants you the Choir of One Auto Rifle, a special ammo version that gives you the sensation of soaring like a Wyvern. The challenge lies in navigating the Connection, Partition, and Access modules, as well as overcoming technical issues such as boss weak points failing to appear.
Encore Exotic mission walkthrough
Upon arrival at Encore, swiftly turn to your right and ascend the slanted section of the wall towards the circular part. Peer over the sphere and jump into the opening below. Jump across the void, crawl along the narrow edge, and glance to your right to locate a corridor for further progression.
Climb up using the compact hoists fixed on the wall. Keep moving forward by placing one brick atop another until you encounter a deep fissure. Pass through the higher opening in the middle, then activate the piston to reach the top. Look for a conspicuous purple gap in the wall where you can descend.
From now on, you’ll find yourself outside, where there’s a spot needing a Vex Module (you’ll fetch this module at a later time). Follow the trail into an inner part of the area to discover some diamonds embedded in the walls. This section contains two modules: Connection and Partition. The Connection module constructs segments and reduces barriers, while the Partition module removes sections of the wall. Place the Connection module in the designated slots and trigger the pillars scattered around the room. The lower-level dish guides you to another that needs the initial Partition.
Once the three supports are engaged, return the Connection to the initial plate close to the three gems and immerse it. This action will trigger a door to open, leading you down a corridor where another Connection awaits at its end. Swiftly pick it up and make a hasty retreat back to the main room. As you do so, keep an eye out for a towering electric barrier chasing after you; the hallway will be teeming with Vex creatures.
In the game, after I stashed my find by the exit in the nearby dish, I decided to nab the other Connection before calling it a day. I then took this one outdoors to the very first dunk spot I’d noticed (near the sphere). Once I’d hurled the Connection into the water, I traversed the brand-new bridge and eliminated the pesky Vex that had taken over the final room. When they were all vanquished, a Partition popped up, so I dropped it off and moved on. I spotted a piston nearby that could be smashed for some sweet loot. Once I was ready, I hopped onto the lift and ascended to new heights.
In this region, we’re unveiling a fresh Vex Module named ‘Access’. This module enables the functioning of Vex teleporters. Make your way to the central chamber, vanquish the Vex and acquire the newly introduced Access token. Afterward, place the Access token into the adjacent slot, retrieve the Access node from the initial room and deposit it in the central slot. Proceed through the central slot with the Connection, then gather more Access. You’ll ultimately reach a new location marked by a rally flag.
In this battle, your goal is simply to chase after the Subjugator by passing through portals, and as you encounter Tormentors along the way, defeat them. Each defeated Tormentor will yield an Access code for a Vex teleporter. When you return to the center, prepare for a challenging confrontation where you’ll face both the Subjugator and the Tormentors simultaneously. Once victorious, collect your rewards from the chest and move forward through the newly-opened portal.
In this compact space, locate the round opening in the wall that takes you into a tunnel. The subsequent chamber is a vast cavern inhabited by a Hydra, a group of Minotaurs, and some Vex. Eliminate them all, then veer left and ascend the rocky outcrops to discover another planetary piston and several structures.
Continue vanquishing Vex entities and passing through portals until you reach the research lab. Scour the floor for the Exo corpse and engage with it to listen to an audio message. After completing this task, a wall will vanish in one of the side areas, thereby granting you access to a central room.
In this battle arena, you’ll be squaring off against Parodos, Choral Mind. Your primary objective is to construct a bridge using the Connection nodes, positioning yourself on whichever side the boss resides. Once there, capture the plate, locate and damage a vulnerable spot, and inflict harm. However, prior to executing these steps, you should insert the Connection node into the central dish and manipulate the pillar first.
If the boss’ weak point diamond does not spawn, you will need to wipe and reset the fight. This is a softlock that will prevent progress.
Once you’ve dealt sufficient harm, the boss will create barriers that forbid jumping across the room. Instead, utilize the Vex portals, which are triggered by Access nodes dropped by the large Minotaurs. After each damage phase and returning to the center, don’t forget to tamper with the central pillar again.
1. In the final stage of the boss’s health, you’ll engage it right in the middle. Break the diamond to dismantle its shield, inflict damage, and bid farewell to this pesky boss. A chest will appear along with a drop-off point for your resources. Open the chest and revel in your new Exotic weapon, Choir of One.
