Bold and the Beautiful clumsily puts together why and how Luna killed Tom and Hollis

As a long-time fan of daytime dramas, I’ve seen my fair share of twists and turns that would make a soap opera veteran’s head spin. Tuesday’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, however, has left me scratching my head more than usual.

In yesterday’s August 27th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, the motive behind Luna Nozawa’s murder spree at Il Giardino was revealed, as well as her methods for taking out Tom and Hollis. However, the storyline seemed somewhat fragmented.

As a devotee, I can see Luna’s intentions are crystal clear. For years, Tom had been correspondent to Poppy under the belief they shared a paternal bond, which Luna was well-aware of and had casually perused his letters. However, she never anticipated he would physically appear on the scene. With her cunning scheme to ensnare Bill as her father meticulously laid out, the revelation that her mother and the billionaire shared a night together only served to fuel her curiosity about potential paternity. Thus, she persistently probed whether he might be her biological father.

Despite Poppy repeatedly denying it, this fact didn’t sway Luna, particularly when her mom and Bill started dating seriously. Luna understood that if she persisted in questioning Poppy, he would prefer to believe the lie. All she needed was patience. Once Poppy agreed to undergo a paternity test, Luna procured one from the dark web, planning to deceive Bill and her mother into believing she was his daughter.

Initially, Aunt Li seemed poised to sabotage her plan, but luckily for Luna, the tests turned out to be identical. All she had to do was swap the results when no one was watching, effectively making her a Spencer. However, Tom’s unexpected arrival caused trouble, leading Luna to contemplate taking action.

In my perspective as a fervent observer, she confessed to drugging him, referring to him as a “loser.” Determined to live the life she feels is hers, she deemed it necessary to eliminate any obstacles in her path. Unfortunately, Hollis was caught in the crossfire. Luna stumbled upon Tom’s belongings with him. Once she discovered her friend had been reading his letters, she swiftly disposed of Hollis as well. She managed this by telling Hollis that Deacon was searching for him, which provided a perfect cover to slip the same drug into his drink that she’d used to end Tom’s life.

1. Hollis met a tragic end when Luna viciously assaulted him, leaving him gasping for breath behind the bar, isolated and knowing his time was up. Luna exhibited no regret for her deeds, as she has transformed into a full-blown villain in the soap opera. This development would be acceptable if the plot weren’t riddled with inconsistencies.

The storyline is continuing to develop, leaving room for “The Bold and the Beautiful” to possibly introduce a split personality element. However, at present, we’re exploring the possibility that Luna’s apparent sweetness might be an act, casting doubt on all her past actions within the soap opera, including her relationship with RJ and her connection with her mother. Additionally, this potential twist doesn’t seem to fit smoothly into the narrative yet.

Instead of assuming that Luna secretly left the estate to murder Tom while she was meant to be with Bill, it’s confusing if she searched Tom’s bag without anyone else seeing and then acted surprised by the letters, given that she’s been portrayed as the killer all along. Was she merely pretending for her own benefit? Poppy didn’t enter the room until after Luna had already gone through the bag and summoned her mother into the living room. Moreover, the bag was concealed behind the couch and came as a surprise to Luna.

Additionally, there seems to be a lack of development in Luna’s character. One would expect some hints or subtle signs of her sudden change in attitude after spending almost a year with her. Despite numerous scenes where she’s struggled with honesty, even in private moments, the abrupt shift in her demeanor doesn’t align with what we’ve previously observed. This isn’t uncommon in soap operas, but it would be nice to see a clearer progression leading up to this transformation. Here’s hoping that there’s a deeper backstory or motivation behind Luna’s behavior that will make her change more understandable.
