Sex Education star Asa Butterfield returning to Netflix in thriller series Out of the Dust

As a long-time fan of Asa Butterfield‘s captivating performances, I am beyond excited to see him take on yet another intriguing role in the Netflix psychological thriller, “Out of the Dust.” With his impressive resume that includes critically acclaimed series like “Sex Education” and movies such as “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas,” Butterfield has proven time and again that he possesses a unique talent for immersing himself into diverse characters.

It appears that Asa Butterfield, renowned for his role in Sex Education, isn’t finished with Netflix just yet. He is slated to appear in a forthcoming Netflix thriller series named Out of the Dust. Further details about his role and the show are provided below.

Aside from being famously recognized for his role as Otis Milburn in the popular Netflix teen series “Sex Education,” Asa Butterfield has also appeared in various movies such as “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas,” “Then Came You,” “Your Christmas or Mine?,” “All Fun and Games,” and “Your Christmas or Mine 2.” His upcoming projects include an animated sci-fi film titled “Rogue Trooper” and a horror-thriller film on Netflix called “Choose or Die,” which is different from his work in “Sex Education.”

Excited to share that I’ll be featured in the upcoming psychological thriller, “Out of the Dust” on Netflix! This is my second series and third project overall with them. Filming is currently underway in the UK, with Jim Loach and Philippa Langdale at the helm. Can’t wait to see what these talented directors bring to life from Julie Gearey’s (“Intergalactic”) captivating script!

Moreover, it’s worth mentioning that Double Dutch Productions is the production house responsible for the series. In this role, Gearey, Iona Vrolyk, and Myar Craig-Brown function as executive producers, while Nick Pitt holds the position of producer.

In this gripping TV show, the story unfolds within a strict religious community. The protagonist is Rosie, a faithful spouse and parent, who embarks on a transformative path towards liberation and self-discovery after crossing paths with a fugitive.

Here’s the official synopsis via Variety:

Rosie lives with her husband Adam and daughter in a cloistered Christian community. The fateful arrival of escaped prisoner Sam into her life, reveals the reality and restraints of her world; perhaps this hidden religious community doesn’t have her best interests at heart. And, as the cracks begin to appear in her marriage, Sam presents as her saviour. But with his dark criminal past, where does the greatest danger lie – with the cult or with Sam?

In this production, Molly Windsor, known for her roles in “War of the Worlds” and “Traces”, takes on the lead character Rosie. Fra Fee, recognized from “Rebel Moon -Part One & Two” and “Hawkeye”, plays Sam, an escaped convict. Daniel Mays portrays Adam, who is Rosie’s husband. The supporting cast includes Siobhan Finneran (from “The Damned” and “Time”) as Mrs Phillips and Christopher Eccleston (from “Young Woman and the Sea” and “True Detective”) as Mr Phillips.
