What Happened to Trevis Gipson? NFL Trade Explained

As a fan following Trevis Gipson‘s rollercoaster journey through the NFL, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions. On one hand, it’s exciting to see him getting traded to a new team and potentially contributing to their success. On the other, I can’t help but wonder if he’ll find a permanent home somewhere soon, or if he’s destined to keep bouncing from team to team like a superball!

Trevis Gipson, a freshman in the NFL, has had a wandering career thus far, being traded to various teams approximately every other season. This league newcomer was welcomed by the Chicago Bears in 2020, when he signed a four-year rookie contract with them. Since then, Gipson has played for the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars. If the latest rumors are accurate, the 27-year-old athlete will be playing for his fourth team in as many years.

Trevis Gipson trade to Seattle Seahawks explained

According to reports from ESPN, the Seattle Seahawks have swapped their 2025 sixth-round draft choice with Jacksonville, receiving defensive end Trevis Gipson in return. This trade became official on Monday.

The deal began as a response to Uchenna Nwosu’s injury, which occurred when he collided with Wyatt Teller from the Cleveland Browns during their last preseason game. The experienced linebacker ended up seeking treatment in the injury tent after the impact and was later observed using an ice pack on his knee.

As a gamer, I’m saying goodbye to Darrell Taylor as we traded him for a 2025 sixth-round pick with the Bears. With our linebacker corps looking thin, we made a move to acquire Trevis Gipson to help strengthen that position.

As a football enthusiast, it appears that the trade of Tre’Von Gipson to the Seattle Seahawks is proving advantageous for everyone involved – at least from my perspective. According to Jacksonville Jaguars manager Doug Pederson, when you have talented players and other teams are in need, it’s only natural to keep an open ear.

Pearson also stated, “Trevis has performed exceptionally well for us, and I believe it’s beneficial for him. It’s advantageous for both the team he’ll join and for us, as far as compensation goes. It’s a mutually beneficial situation. It provides him with a chance to play, and we only wish him nothing but success.”

Gipson had only joined the Jaguars in March 2024, agreeing to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.
