Susannah Grant, a renowned screenwriter known for movies like “Ever After,” “Erin Brockovich,” “In Her Shoes,” and “Catch and Release,” penned and directed this film. In the film, Dern assumes the character of Katherine Loewe, a solitary author struggling with writer’s block, who chooses to go to a tranquil writers’ retreat in Morocco as a means to break free from her predicament. Upon arrival at this serene setting, she encounters and forms a bond with a younger individual named Owen Brophy (played by Liam Hemsworth). This initial rapport develops into something deeper and powerful over time.

A young man accompanies his girlfriend to her prestigious writers retreat in Morocco, but struggles to find his place in her new world with the intellectual elite. As their relationship grows more fractious, he finds solace with a renowned but reclusive writer that evolves into a forbidden and intoxicating love affair.
Apart from Dern and Hemsworth starring prominently in Lonely Planet, the film will also include performances by supporting actors Diana Silvers, Younès Boucif, Adriano Giannini, and Rachida Brakni.
