Demi Moore Reflects on Charlie’s Angels Bikini Scene 20 Years Later

As a long-time admirer of Demi Moore’s illustrious career, it’s heartening to see her open up about her experiences in Hollywood, particularly regarding her role in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. It’s disheartening to learn that she felt marginalized due to societal expectations and ageism, which is a regrettable reality for many talented artists in the industry.

Demi Moore, who played Madison Lee in the 2003 film “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” has recently looked back on her beach scene with Cameron Diaz, more than two decades after the sequel was first shown in cinemas in 2003.

In Hollywood, following the significant attention received for her bikini scene in the 2003 sequel, which was particularly noticeable due to her appearance, the actress expressed that it seemed like there wasn’t a suitable role for her. However, the second Charlie’s Angels movie directed by McG marked her comeback to acting. After this, she took some time off before starring in the romantic thriller Half Light.

What did Demi Moore say about her Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle scene?

As Moore shared in an interview, she noticed a significant increase in criticism when she turned 40. Following her role in “Charlie’s Angels,” there was much debate about a particular scene involving a bikini, and the scrutiny over her appearance intensified. She felt that her career opportunities dwindled, leading to a sensation of not fitting in. It wasn’t a matter of feeling out of place or unwelcome, but rather an acknowledgment that she was no longer in her 20s or 30s and wasn’t yet perceived as a mother by the industry.

She went on to say, “Where can I find my place? At that moment, it wasn’t lifeless, but lacking depth… I’m not sure I’ve ever encountered something before that felt like a restriction I didn’t know existed.”

Apart from Moore and Diaz, who portrayed Natalie Cook in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, this action comedy series also featured Drew Barrymore as Dylan Sanders and Lucy Liu as Alex Munday. In the sequel, Moore took on the role of the main villain, a former Angel now working under the command of Charles ‘Charlie’ Townsend.

Following my time with Charlie’s Angels, I embarked on an exciting journey, gracing numerous films such as Flawless, The Joneses, Margin Call, Very Good Girls, Rough Night, Love Sonia, and more. My latest role can be seen in the chilling body horror film, The Substance, hitting theaters on September 20.
