As a seasoned gamer with memories of countless hours spent navigating the bustling streets of Kamurocho and Sotenbori, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement tinged with a touch of nostalgia. The Yakuza series has been a staple in my gaming life for years, and finally, it’s making its way to the Nintendo Switch.
Ultimately, a Yakuza game is now available on the Nintendo Switch. For a while, Sega’s intense city-based Japanese role-playing game had eluded the Nintendo Switch due to RGG Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama’s skepticism towards the console’s technical constraints.
I’m thrilled beyond words! On October 24th, 2024, it’s finally happening – Yakuza Kiwami will be the pioneer title gracing our console, marking its second appearance on a Nintendo platform. You might recall that the first two titles found their home on the Wii U, thanks to Lewis. This is truly a momentous occasion for us fans!
It’s unfortunate that we won’t get to play Yakuza on Nintendo Switch until a year after its successor is announced, which makes me wonder if maybe the potential Nintendo Switch 2 could feature Yakuza and Like a Dragon games as part of its initial lineup, rather than being added later in its lifespan.
