As a long-time fan of The Running Man franchise, I couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that Glen Powell will be stepping into the shoes of Ben Richards in the upcoming reboot. With his charisma and acting chops, he seems like the perfect choice to breathe new life into this iconic role.
The reboot of “The Running Man” starring Glen Powell in the main role has recently disclosed updates about its production. Originally confirmed by Paramount Pictures in 2021, the film has seen consistent progress since then without a doubt. A recent report unveiled that filming for the movie will start later this year.
Glen Powell to start filming Running Man remake in late 2024
Previously, Glen Powell mentioned that he would juggle working on the Edgar Wright-directed The Running Man remake with his ongoing studies at the University of Texas. As reported by The Wrap, this multitasking plan seems to be coming true since production for The Running Man reboot is set to commence in November 2024.
Previously, Powell alluded to the timeline of his forthcoming film’s production during a chat with IndieWire. During this conversation, the 35-year-old mentioned that he will juggle filming and completing his academic studies concurrently.
According to Glen Powell, you won’t find me attending classes alongside other students regularly. Instead, I’ll return occasionally due to some commitments, but this fall, I’ll be busy filming The Running Man.
As a gamer, here’s how I might rephrase that: “I’m jetting off to London for a while, but I’ll be returning to take some proctored exams. Thankfully, they’re accommodating me with distance learning so I can still finish my degree. Edgar’s been gracious about letting me work on it amidst his blockbuster film production.”
From what his comments suggested, it seemed likely that the filming would start around autumn. However, The Wrap’s report has now confirmed this assumption.
When will Edgar Wright’s Running Man reboot come out?
Currently, a specific launch date for the remake of “The Running Man” hasn’t been made public as of now. However, considering the scheduled filming in November, it might be released towards the end of 2025 or possibly in 2026.
The movie’s release date will serendipitously fall in line with the year depicted in Stephen King’s novel it’s based on, as both are set in the year 2025.
