Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws was designed to actually respect lore you love

As a seasoned gamer with decades of Star Wars gaming under my belt, I must say that Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws has managed to strike a delicate balance between honoring the rich lore of the galaxy far, far away and introducing fresh, exciting elements to explore.

In a distant galaxy, Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws brings an expansive, visually stunning open world for exploration. Not only does it meticulously replicate beloved worlds, but Ubisoft has emphasized that the game’s diverse planets are carefully crafted to uphold the rich lore you cherish.

Does Star Wars Outlaws respect lore?

As a devoted fan, I’ve been engrossed in the flood of reviews for Star Wars Outlaws, yet one aspect has left me pondering: the game’s adherence to the rich tapestry of established lore. Granted, there are accomplishments that nod towards Boba Fett and no narrative loopholes have been exploited as far as I know, but I can’t help but wonder about Ubisoft’s dedication to maintaining the series’ legacy.

In a recent video by Ubisoft, the developers stated that they carefully crafted the game’s planets while considering the established series’ history and background.

“Our goal was to ensure that each location offers players some insights, either about the universe itself or revealing details from the Star Wars lore.”

In the current Star Wars universe, it was necessary for planets to follow their existing stories and avoid introducing unexpected features like an oasis on Tatooine or a castle on a deserted planet.

Ubisoft stated that the locales in Star Wars resemble powerful representations of various biomes. For instance, Tatooine has a desert-like environment while Kijimi consistently experiences nighttime and cold weather conditions.

New lore to explore

Although Star Wars Outlaws strives to maintain the original storyline’s integrity, it also infuses numerous innovative concepts. Characters such as Kay Vess and Nix are fresh faces in the cast, along with several supporting characters. Additionally, a brand-new planet is introduced for exploration.

As a devoted Star Wars enthusiast myself, I can’t help but recommend Outlaws for fellow fans. Despite the unfortunate online environment that’s tainted with toxicity, this Ubisoft creation offers an exhilarating open-world adventure within the beloved universe. Granted, it has its share of bugs, but the overall Star Wars experience it provides is already remarkable.
