EXCLUSIVE: Nani addresses chance of his cameo in Kalki 2; says ‘Everyone decided that…’

As an ardent fan of Nani, I’ve been following his journey with bated breath, and the anticipation for Saripodhaa Sanivaaram is palpable! His candor during the TopMob’s Masterclass was refreshing, and it was fascinating to learn about his personal experiences, including the rumors surrounding his potential cameo in Kalki 2898 AD’s sequel.

Nani is currently basking in the spotlight due to his upcoming movie, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, which is set to premiere on August 29, 2024. In an open and honest conversation leading up to the release, he discussed various aspects of his professional and personal life. Furthermore, he addressed the gossip surrounding his potential involvement in Nag Ashwin’s follow-up to Kalki 2898 AD.

At TopMob’s Masterclass, Nani clarified rumors about his involvement in Nag Ashwin’s upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD sequel, where he is said to make a special appearance. Previously, before the initial release of the movie, there were reports suggesting that the actor known as Hi Nanna would feature in a cameo role. However, this did not materialize in the first installment.

Nani expressed that he wasn’t aware Nag Ashwin had suggested a cameo for him in the sequel of Kalki, as he simply stated, “I didn’t know about it. Nothing.”

Nani clarified that, up to this point, neither he nor Nag Ashwin have talked about or been offered a cameo in Kalki 2. He stated, “No, we’re quite close, so he probably mentioned it jokingly. We haven’t actually discussed anything.”

As a lifestyle expert, let me share a personal anecdote. I distinctly remember the moment when whispers about my brief appearance in Kalki 2898 AD began circulating. Reflecting on that time, I can’t help but chuckle at my initial disbelief. “It was peculiar,” I thought to myself, “because even I recall the day Kalki was unveiled, my phone was flooded with messages. I was taken aback, wondering, ‘Why me? I’m just… Everyone seemed to agree that I was there. Yet, we had never discussed it.”

As the interview neared its conclusion, Nani shared an experience where he was teased for his name. Reflecting on a fan’s query, the actor recalled instances from his school days when his name was often the subject of mockery.

When I attended school, there was a significant amount of bullying towards me. The school had relatively few Telugu speakers and many students who spoke different languages. They would often mock me by saying, “Nani, where’s your Nana,” which is a phrase in Telugu that means “where’s your grandfather.”

Nevertheless, despite the persistent bullying he experienced earlier, Dasara maintained a grown-up perspective and viewed the situation more optimistically.

He explained, “There’s no issue here. They treat me like family, don’t they? Nani refers to family in Telugu, but when I first arrived, it caused some confusion because I wasn’t aware that Nani was a name. However, I believe the confusion is now resolved. I will make it more common after appearing in 3-4 films, and people will remember Nani.”

To put it simply, the movie “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram” by Nani features SJ Suryah, Priyanka Mohan, Abhirami, Aditi Balan, and Murali Sharma, among others, playing significant characters in this upcoming vigilante action thriller.
