As a gamer with a deep-rooted affection for WWE, I must say that John Cena’s recent praise for Brock Lesnar during his hiatus is nothing short of heartwarming. Having grown up watching their intense rivalries unfold, it feels like reliving a piece of my childhood through the wisdom and camaraderie shared by these titans of the ring.
In more casual terms, it’s worth noting that during his break from WWE, Brock Lesnar – a future Hall of Famer who first stepped into the WWE ring in 2002 – received unexpected compliments from one of his past adversaries. Throughout the last two decades, Lesnar has squared off against numerous top-tier WWE personalities in various rivalries.
For more than a year now, The Beast (Lesnar) has been missing from the WWE scene. His last bout was at SummerSlam last year with Cody Rhodes. After WrestleMania 39, these two powerhouses found themselves in a fierce feud due to Lesnar’s unexpected attack on Rhodes during an episode of WWE RAW.
At SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar experienced a crushing defeat against Cody Rhodes. Following this event, Lesnar took a break from WWE. His comeback was initially planned for early this year at Royal Rumble. However, his return was cancelled due to rumors surrounding his participation in the Vince McMahon lawsuit. Since then, WWE has kept Lesnar out of their shows until the legal matters are settled.
Despite being away from the promotion for more than a year, Brock Lesnar has recently been seen with fans, snapping photos while sporting a fresh new look. Although there’s no definitive word on when he might return, his previous rival has lauded him for his athletic prowess and in-ring abilities.
Who praised Brock Lesnar amid his WWE Hiatus?
Brock Lesnar is famous for his intense feuds against The Undertaker, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and John Cena. More recently, one of WWE’s top stars has given Lesnar some very positive comments. In fact, it was John Cena, the first to encounter “Suplex City,” who praised Lesnar during an appearance on Club Shay Shay.
John Cena expressed, “Brock is among the most talented, diligent, persistent, headstrong individuals I’ve ever encountered. I truly believe, physically, he can accomplish anything he sets his mind to. This is also due to him being 6-4 and over 300 pounds. So, it was a natural progression. … I think Brock is a physical wonder, and I’m grateful he found his place with WWE because he’s amazing, but I believe he could excel at whatever he truly desired.”
It remains to be seen if, during his retirement tour next year, John Cena will square off against Brock Lesnar once more.
