As a fervent admirer of Malayalam cinema, I find myself deeply saddened by the sudden demise of the immensely talented Nirmal Benny. At just 37, his radiant life was extinguished too soon, leaving a void that can hardly be filled.


I’m absolutely devastated to share this heartbreaking news – the remarkable Malayalam actor, Nirmal Benny, has left us far too soon at just 37 years old due to a tragic heart attack. His friend and producer, Sanjay Padiyoor, broke the news on social media. In the early hours of August 23, our beloved Nirmal took his final breath at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram. This loss is immeasurable for all of us who admired his talent and spirit.

Sanjay’s note said, “I bid farewell to a cherished friend with great sorrow… Nirmal played the lead role in the movie ‘Kochacha’ by Amen Nirmal… Sadly, he passed away this morning due to a heart attack. I hope his soul finds eternal peace with the blessings of the Almighty.”

Nirmal Benny gained significant fame for his portrayal as Kochachan, a junior priest, in the highly praised movie titled Amen, helmed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. His exceptional acting in this film garnered him respect and appreciation from both industry professionals and viewers alike.

In the charming village of Kumarankary, the story unfolds with the arrival of a newcomer, Father Vincent Vattoli, portrayed by Indrajith Sukumaran. The film delves into the complexities of the village society, centering primarily on the romantic relationship that blossoms between Vincent and a local resident, played by Swathi Reddy, marking her Malayalam acting debut here.
