Xbox’s Avowed has more endings than any Elder Scrolls game

As a seasoned gamer with decades of RPG experience under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming gem, Avowed. Having traversed countless virtual worlds, I’ve seen my fair share of endings – some disappointing, some fulfilling, but never as diverse and impactful as what Avowed promises.

In contrast to any game in the Elder Scrolls series, Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming spin-off of Pillars of Eternity, titled Avowed, promises a multitude of endings. This first-person fantasy role-playing game is carefully crafted to ensure that each decision made by the player carries significant weight by offering numerous distinct conclusions.

How many endings are in Avowed?

In contrast to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Obsidian’s Avowed offers multiple conclusions that are shaped by your in-game decisions. Although the number of endings may not reach Baldur’s Gate 3 levels, Avowed has more possible endings than any Bethesda title.

During a conversation with IGN, the game’s lead director, Carrie Patel, disclosed that players can encounter over ten different conclusions in the game. Nevertheless, Obsidian Entertainment is still keeping secret the precise number of endings that will actually be featured.

Patel shared that we should expect more than ten final slides in the presentation, and these can result in numerous possible combinations. In other words, the conclusion is essentially the accumulation of all the decisions you make throughout the game.

In the tradition of Pillars of Eternity, the game Avowed is expected to adopt its structural approach to conclusions. This implies that significant decisions will shape several main endings, while smaller, independent endings, not directly tied to the main storyline, may also be encountered.

On the other hand, it’s unlikely that the conclusions will feature expensive, animated sequences. More probably, they will be illustrated through artwork cards accompanied by narration and music. Yet, since no conclusion has been revealed prior to release, there might still be a chance for some visually impressive animations.

Avowed is almost here

Initially planned as an exclusive for Xbox and PC, Avowed is set to debut on February 18, 2025. Given that Indiana Jones: The Great Circle has been confirmed for release on PS5 following pressure from Microsoft, there’s a possibility that the upcoming RPG could also release for PS5 at a later date.

On launch, Avowed will be playable on PC, console and mobile via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
