As a dedicated follower of Nag Ashwin’s work, I must say that his recent interactions with fans about the theories surrounding his film “Kalki 2898 AD” and its sequel have been nothing short of enlightening. Acclaimed director Nag Ashwin has recently responded to some intriguing fan speculations about his movie, Kalki 2898 AD, and its upcoming sequel, in a casual chat. Before the release of Kalki 2898 AD on streaming platforms like Prime Video and Netflix, the filmmaker clarified some misconceptions that fans had been discussing online.
In response to a fan’s speculation about Dulquer Salmaan’s character uncovering Prabhas’ true identity in part 2, director Nag Ashwin simply stated, “I haven’t seen that, but it’s not accurate.”
A spectator proposed another intriguing idea: “Bujji could eventually serve as the dwelling place for Deepika Padukone’s child, symbolizing the ‘white horse.’ Nag Ashwin found the concept interesting, although he hadn’t considered it before. He stated, ‘Bujji is indeed intended to be linked to some kind of transportation, that much is certain. However, not in this specific way.'”
In addition, Ashwin refuted yet another theory proposed by a fan regarding Vijay Deverakonda’s character in Kalki 2898 AD. The theory suggested that “Vijay Deverakonda’s character will appear in the second part and team up with Bhairava to overcome Supreme Yaskin.” However, Ashwin, the filmmaker, clarified with a smile that this is not accurate.
Previously, during an exclusive interview with TopMob, filmmaker Nag Ashwin shared insights on the sequel. He mentioned that the production of the second part is not yet complete, stating, “I would say it’s not 60%, we’ve filmed approximately 25-30 days, but a significant amount of work remains.” Additionally, when inquired about plans for the sequel, Nag elaborated that there is still extensive preparation required.
For those unfamiliar, the film titled “Kalki” in 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, was a science fiction movie set in a dystopian world. Directed by Nag Ashwin, this movie was premiered on June 27, 2024. The name “Kalki” comes from the legends of Hindu epics such as the Mahabharata and is connected to the prophecy of Lord Vishnu’s tenth incarnation.
In addition to the main actors already mentioned (Prabhas), the movie also boasts a talented supporting cast: Disha Patani, Rajendra Prasad, Shobhana, and Saswata Chatterjee play significant parts. Furthermore, Kalki 2898 AD includes Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur, and Dulquer Salmaan in special appearances.
