Alright, folks! As someone who’s been around the block a time or two when it comes to TV shows, I gotta say Netflix has really outdone themselves with their latest addition – A Discovery of Witches. Now, I’ve been a fan of the books by Deborah Harkness for years, and let me tell you, this adaptation is nothing short of magical!

Let’s face it, everyone. It can’t be ignored that Netflix reigns supreme in the streaming world, regardless of how hard others strive to compete. This is simply a fact. While Netflix produces many successful Originals, it also skillfully highlights shows from various networks and platforms, even if they’re not new. For instance, consider the surge in popularity of Suits, or the secondary audience ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy has thanks to Netflix.

Lately, Netflix has incorporated 13 shows from AMC into their collection, among them “A Discovery of Witches.” Given its popularity and my personal fondness for this fantasy series, it’s not surprising to see it rise in the Top 10. Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode’s onscreen chemistry

Regardless of how skilled the writing or your efforts are, if the primary actors portraying the central couple lack a genuine connection, the production is unlikely to be successful. However, this isn’t an issue when referring to Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode. Their on-screen chemistry is electric! The instant attraction between their characters, Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont, is palpable, and it’s largely due to these two talented actors that such a connection is created!

I love, love and I know many of you are in the same boat. I’m definitely a shipping type of girl. I promise you that Diana and Matthew’s love story is going to get you hooked and invested. They’re great as a couple, are willing to do whatever it takes to protect each other, and both have an equal role in this relationship. Even though it is a vampire and a witch together, they definitely make it work. That’s also a forbidden romance right there, which I’m a sucker for. I can’t resist this trope.

1) Diana is a powerful female lead character who stands out on TV. She’s determined, assertive, and unyielding when faced with challenges. Her love for Matthew is strong and she’s willing to defend it. Similarly, Matthew is a well-rounded character too. They both have compelling background stories that make them captivating.

The novel A Discovery of Witches stands out due to its creation of a universe where witches, vampires, and daemons live alongside humans in our reality. Initially, it’s these extraordinary beings who take center stage, dealing with a predicament.

As a devoted follower, I can’t help but notice a peculiar development: Their extraordinary powers seem to be dwindling, yet they share a collective aim to unravel the mystery behind this phenomenon. Regardless, their camaraderie is far from harmonious; instead, it’s fraught with tension and discord, which only adds another layer of intrigue to this captivating narrative.

Supernatural politics

In this fictional realm, a council known as The Congregation exists, where two representatives from every magical species take part. These individuals play a pivotal role in shaping the decisions within the magical world. The tale incorporates an engaging layer of supernatural politics that adds depth and intrigue. It’s another fascinating aspect I found captivating. As with any political sphere, you’ll encounter those driven by self-interest, partial to their own kind, and those striving for harmony – nothing out of the ordinary there!

Initially, the narrative unfolds around Diana, a woman who has long resisted embracing her witch identity. However, an unexpected encounter at Oxford’s library with a mysterious artifact known as the Book of Life, triggers a wave of attention, as it seems no supernatural being – be they vampire, witch, or demon – has been able to summon the book before. This discovery leads Diana to collaborate with Matthew, despite their species’ historical animosity, and in turn, attracts unwanted pursuit from other supernatural entities.
