The Jackbox Naughty Pack Preview: An M-Rated Party

As a seasoned party-goer who has seen more than my fair share of lackluster gatherings, let me tell you that The Jackbox Naughty Pack is a breath of fresh, adult-oriented air. Having attended a brief demonstration of this game, I can attest that it delivers on the laughter and camaraderie front just as well as its PG counterparts (which were often quite naughty with my friends anyways).

To wrap things up, unlike the parties you’ve only heard of, you’re actually invited to one – The Jackbox Naughty Pack. As the title implies, this is a more mature take on Jackbox Games’ party packs, set to launch on September 12, 2024. During my quick playtest, I can attest that it maintains the same level of humor as its PG counterparts, and with my friends, it often veered into adult territory anyways.

Representatives from Jackbox Games, led by CEO Mike Bilder, creative director Brooke Breit, and game directors Warren Arnold and Tim Sniffen, guided us through the three games in the pack. Two of these might seem familiar to longtime series enthusiasts, as Dirty Drawful and Fakin’ It All Night Long are humorous spin-offs of Drawful and Fakin’ It respectively. The only completely fresh experience is Let Me Finish, a riotously funny presentation game. Regardless of whether the games are old favorites or brand new, they all provide plenty of laughs and make for an enjoyable time together.

As a devoted enthusiast, I’d like to share my take on Dirty Drawful: This game is remarkably straightforward, much like traditional Drawful. The twist lies in the fact that the prompts for drawings are subtly risqué, and it’s our job as players (using our phones) to create humorous captions describing the scene in the drawing. The funniest suggestion garners votes, with the winner taking the glory. It seamlessly complements The Jackbox Naughty Pack, and given that PG prompts occasionally led to risqué artwork, you can anticipate even more unbridled hilarity here!

The upcoming game titled “Fakin’ It All Night Long” is a follow-up to the beloved “Fakin’ It,” which was originally included in The Jackbox Party Pack 3. Notably, “Fakin’ It” was one of the select Jackbox games specifically crafted for in-person gatherings instead of online streaming. Given its nature as a social deduction game where one player per round is asked to deceive questions, this design choice makes sense.

In essence, “Let Me Finish” is an innovative take on a debate game. The game presents participants with a variety of ordinary images and humorous queries, such as locating the genitals of inanimate objects. This results in some absurdly amusing discussions, where you can engage in friendly yet intense debates over the most trivial subjects. It’s an enjoyable experience, particularly for those who enjoy a good argument. To win, you’ll need to persuade your fellow players with your well-crafted arguments.

Regarding its humor, The Jackbox Naughty Pack strikes a suitable balance for the team’s debut M-rated release. The prompts I observed lean toward being suggestive, but the Jackbox team has emphasized that they aim to be inclusive. This means you can anticipate jokes with sexual themes, however, nothing disrespectful towards races or sexualities will be included. Additionally, content filters will be available, allowing players to adjust it according to their preferences.

The Jackbox Naughty Pack Preview: Final Verdict

It appears that the Jackbox Naughty Pack is shaping up to be another success for Jackbox Games. Known as the top developer of party games, they continue to impress with innovative strategies like this one, offering a mature, side-splitting game to their fanbase when the rest of the family retires for the night. Whether played in person or online through streaming, it promises a wealth of laughter and unusual discussions that you wouldn’t normally have.

Thanks to Jackbox Games for inviting us to the digital The Jackbox Naughty Pack preview event.
