Mr Bachchan director Harish Shankar to return his remuneration of Rs 15 crore after Ravi Teja starrer incurs loss? Here's what we know

As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I must say that the decision by director Harish Shankar to return his 15 crore remuneration for Mr Bachchan is both bold and commendable. In my years of observing the film industry, I’ve seen many films flop despite having high budgets and promising casts. It takes a certain level of maturity and responsibility to acknowledge one’s role in such a situation and take action.

Harish Shankar, director of the latest Telugu film “Mr Bachchan,” is said to be returning a payment of approximately 150 million Indian rupees because the movie didn’t do well at the box office. This move comes after disappointing ticket sales since “Mr Bachchan” had strong competition from movies like “Double iSmart,” “Raghu Thatha,” and others that were released on the same day.

On its debut, the movie starring Mr. Bachchan and Ravi Teja brought in a modest initial sum of 34.5 million rupees. However, it experienced a steep decline of approximately 68% on its second day, earning just 110 million rupees. As a result, the film’s total earnings after two days amounted to 635 million rupees. This is significantly lower than anticipated, considering the high-stakes nature and substantial budget of the production. In comparison, Double iSmart and Raghu Thatha had slightly better performances, despite receiving generally negative feedback from both audiences and critics.

It’s evident that Mr Bachchan’s movie hasn’t been doing well financially since its debut, as it’s not earning much money. This poor performance has resulted in substantial losses for the producers. In an attempt to offset these losses, filmmaker Harish Shankar has decided to return the 15 crores he was paid for the project. Furthermore, he has agreed to work on another film with the same production company.

Based on what’s been shared, producer TG Vishwa Prasad has guaranteed that he will reimburse those who suffered substantial financial setbacks due to the movie Mr Bachchan.

On August 15, the movie titled “Mr Bachchan,” helmed by Harish Shankar, hit the screens. This film boasts a strong ensemble cast including Ravi Teja, Bhagyashri Borse, and Jagapathi Babu. Notably, it’s a Telugu adaptation of the successful Hindi film “Raid,” which originally featured Ajay Devgn in the lead role. However, despite initial high hopes, “Mr Bachchan” has garnered a range of reviews that are generally mixed to negative.

The narrative revolves around Anand, or Bachchan (portrayed by Ravi Teja), a steadfast income tax officer who finds himself facing suspension because of his unwavering integrity. Upon returning to his humble origins, he encounters Jikki (Bhagyashri Borse), a native woman whom he eventually falls for. As their families begin making preparations for their marriage, Bachchan is unexpectedly reinstated and assigned the mission to search the residence of a potent politician, Mutyam Jaggaiah (Jagapathi Babu). The movie delves into the struggles that Bachchan experiences as he juggles his work obligations with preserving his personal relationships.
