As a passionate follower, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll get my hands on Dune Awakening next year! This exciting news was unveiled together with the gameplay trailer at the opening night of Gamescom 2024.
Dune Gameplay: Surviving In The Desert
In other words, it has been announced by Funcom that Dune: Awakening will be a Multiplayer Online Survival Game. Given that their recent success, Conan: Exiles, falls under the same game category, this news isn’t entirely unexpected.
The gameplay clips provide a sneak peek at the character customization, initial base-building in a desert landscape, rock scaling, and hand-to-hand combat strategies. Players are given the freedom to build their own bases and use unique tools such as blood purifiers to extract water from defeated enemies’ blood, an essential resource for staying alive.
Various excerpts from the game’s official site provide clues about its gameplay mechanics. These include references to building shelters, managing and using a resource called “spice,” and the process of exploring and uncovering the planet Arrakis. Below are descriptions of the game:
- Survive the most dangerous planet in the universe: Build shelters against sandstorms, maintain your stillsuit, and master the old ways to walk even the deepest deserts. Avoid or be devoured by the colossal sandworms that dwell beneath the sands.
