It packs a powerful punch, so fighting it early on can be quite challenging if you’re not well-prepared. However, with some careful strategies, this battle becomes more manageable and even rewarding as you’ll learn a new intriguing spell upon its defeat.
Don’t fret if you couldn’t gather the Wandering Wight’s spirit right now. You’ll be able to find it again at a later shrine once you’ve advanced further in your journey.
How to beat the Wandering Wight
In the Forest of Wolves’ Outer Region of Black Myth: Wukong lies a formidable boss known as The Wandering Wight, characterized by its oversized head. Before engaging in combat with this behemoth, it’s advisable to first defeat Yaoguai Chief: Guangzhi. He grants the Red Tides transformation, a powerful ability that essentially provides an additional health pool, making it much easier to handle this blue-hued adversary.
As a seasoned adventurer, I’d advise giving myself a bit more power before confronting the Wandering Wight. By the time we clashed, I’d accumulated around 10 levels, and I’d allocated my Sparks to these key areas:
- Robust Constitution (health)
- Immobilize, Crash (extra damage to immobilized enemies)
- Exhilaration (health recovery on Focus Point use)
Regarding taking down the Wandering Wight, it’s important to know that it’s susceptible to being stunned by powerful strikes. A focused attack can significantly increase the chances of stunning it and pushing it back. Moreover, casting the Immobilize spell followed by repeated heavy attacks usually causes it to lose balance and fall over. If you manage to maintain a series of heavy assaults, you’ll be able to keep it stunned continuously.
Initially, immobilize the Wandering Wight using a spell for numerous uncontested hits. Once it starts recovering, deliver a powerful blow to maintain its disorientation. Continue to inflict light attacks to accumulate heavy attacks, aiming to keep this sequence going until it appears impossible to continuously stagger the wight.
Once the Strolling Shade revives, change shape by casting the Red Tides incantation. Opt for gentle assaults, as vigorous attacks will deplete your Strength gauge substantially. The more time you spend alive and inflicting damage in this guise, the less you’ll have to depend on the Chosen One’s form.
After Red Tides concludes, it’s time for you to join the battle as the monkey. Now, concentrate on maneuvering around the boss, always being mindful to dodge its attacks. It usually finishes combos with a palm slap that emits a beam of light in a straight line. By moving to the side while dodging, you can completely evade this attack.
If it’s too risky to approach without getting hurt, simply circle around the area instead. Maintain a safe distance whenever possible, and use this time to let your abilities recharge. Once they’re ready again, make a move and prove your strength!
Wandering Wight rewards
In simpler terms, when you encounter and defeat The Wandering Wight, it may drop items such as the Cat’s Eye Beads, Will, Yarn, and grant Experience Points. Defeating this enemy also produces a special flame called a Spirit, which is colored blue-purple. After speaking with the wise master and upgrading your Gourd at his shrine, you can cultivate this Spirit.
Regarding the second item, the Cat’s Eye Beads, they subtly boost your Critical Hit Chance. Consider using it promptly since it could be beneficial in some challenging battles where those additional critical hits might prove useful.
