As a gamer who’s lived through the rise and fall of countless superhero franchises, I can confidently say that the prospect of a Shang-Chi sequel has me more excited than a level 90 player finding a rare loot box. The first movie was a breath of fresh air in the MCU, offering a unique blend of action and humor that left audiences wanting more.
In 2021, the debut of the Shang-Chi film served as an unexpected success within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Its meticulously orchestrated action sequences paired with amusing moments created an enjoyable addition to the Marvel library.
Though we haven’t heard much about the sequel, Simu Liu confirmed that it’s on the way.
Shang-Chi And His Role In The MCU
In a brief extra scene following the credits of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Shang-Chi gathers with Wong, Captain Marvel, and Bruce Banner for a discussion about the history behind his unique weapon.
This teaser most likely sets up Shang-Chi as a possible future member of the Avengers cast.
According to an interview with Comic Book, Simu Liu confirmed that a sequel is indeed in the works. However, the exact release date remains undecided at this point.
A lot of it is above my pay grade, but it’s definitely happening. So, just very excited to kind of work on it, and it’s going to be amazing. I really can’t say anything beyond that.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got to say, there’s no specific timeframe yet revealed for the next installment of Shang-Chi. It’s not scheduled in Marvel’s Phase 6 lineup, so we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for any updates on when we can dive back into that exciting universe!
