A rock star will cameo on Bold and the Beautiful in September (Here's who!)

As a long-time fan who’s seen more soap opera twists than daylight hours, I can’t help but feel that the inclusion of “Way Down We Go” by Kaleo’s Jökull Júliusson is no mere coincidence. The song’s theme of paying for one’s crimes feels eerily reminiscent of the ongoing Il Giardino murder mystery. I’m half expecting the lyrics to serve as a subliminal clue, like a soap opera version of a Rorschach test!

The long-running soap opera, “The Bold and the Beautiful,” has been keeping us hooked with its outrageous plot developments, a captivating murder investigation, and exciting cameos from notable actors. Recently, we were treated to Michael Damian’s musical talents as his character, Danny Romalotti, performed “Rock On” during the crossover episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

In a lively and unexpected turn of events, Christine Blair, portrayed by Lauralee Bell, made an appearance in a plotline that took a dramatic twist as Hope Logan shared a kiss with the married Dr. John Finnegan during the celebration while other guests danced to music. Now, the soap opera is preparing to entertain us once more, featuring none other than Jökull Júliusson, the lead vocalist of the renowned Icelandic rock band Kaleo.

The artist will make an appearance on the episode of Friday, September 27th. He’ll be making a cameo as himself and performing the band’s popular song “Way Down We Go,” which was originally released about 10 years ago on August 7th. This song was certified double platinum on December 12, 2019, and has been featured in numerous prime-time dramas such as Grey’s Anatomy, The Vampire Diaries, Riverdale, This is Us, among others.

As a gamer, I’ve been pondering if the addition of “Way Down We Go” might carry more weight than just another stellar performance by Júliusson on The Bold and the Beautiful. It’s an unusual pick for the show since it doesn’t quite fit the bill as a catchy pop tune or a romantic serenade like Andrea Bocelli’s “A te,” which was perfect for Brooke and Ridge during their Rome storyline.

In approximately four weeks, we’ll see Júliusson in a brief appearance. However, it’s hard to predict the exact role he’ll play or where his performance will occur. Considering the theme of the song, this could influence the ongoing murder mystery plotline within the soap opera.

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “Way Down We Go” is all about facing the repercussions for past misdeeds. Júliusson sings of someone who let their reckless side take over and now they’re paying the price. It sure feels like fate that this song will be played during his guest spot on The Bold and the Beautiful. Maybe we’ll finally discover the real identity of the Il Giardino killer around then, or perhaps another crime is brewing.
